They're gonna trade Rhodes for a draft pick or two.

Are you picturing Richard Todd banging Mike Tannebaum's fat, quivering ass when you look at that post? Because I'm not.

    gross.

28Martin just seemed quite sure of himself in his post....i thought he might have an inside track into Tanny's inner circle.

Oh I get it, you're talking about his anus. Hey, everybody, when MB uses "circle" in this sense, it's a double entendre where the second meaning is Mike Tannenbaum's anus. You're a clever one.

He was "bussing" Tanny's table the other night and overheard the comment while de-crumbing the linen.

So what are you guys going to say when Rhodes is still here in September?

As for TO, I don't believe there is a single team in the NFL that isn't better with Terrell Owens on it. I don't know that they'd have gotten past Minny, but they'd still have been a better team.

People swore up and down that Randy Moss would ruin New England. They fell one game short of a perfect season.

    Personality means shit.

Precisely- things like ability to tackle, speed and consistent play are more important.

Unfortunately, Rhodes hasn't shown much in any of those departments over the last few years.

Fair enough. He's definitely fulfilled his potential, and I've made no attempt to say otherwise. The questions are "Why?" and "Can any problems be fixed?"

I think the answer to the first one is that he drank too much of his own Kool-Aid. Thanks Belidouche! The answer to the second is yes, and Rex is the guy who can do it.

I would think it's hard to deny that Rhodes played significantly better after the benching, even though he still made some errors that make you scratch your head (or throw things across the room.) We'll see what Rex can do with him this offseason. I think he'll come back better next year.

no way rhodes is back.if he's coming back you say it now and squash the whispers and rumors.
i'm guessing the meeting went like this:
rex:hey kerry i don't think this is gonna work.you toe the line and we'll try to find a good deal for both of us.if not its gonna be miserable around here for ya.got it?
    kerry:got it.

    kerry:eek:k

Was for me....that is NOT a football player right there... that is an athelete that doesn't get it. Live ball on the ground and he's celebrating ? That's not what Rex wants.....it isn't even tolerable. It is clueless.

The Jets can do better.....lots of talent at FS in this draft.

I disagree.....you can't coach heart. You either play with it or you don't. When you no longer play with heart, you are doomed to mediocrity. Rhodes does not play with heart. He did once. He does not now - even AFTER the benching.

Don't know if anybody posted this yet. I went through this thread and didn't see it. Sorry if it is a repeat.

    Today's NY Post;
Prior to Ryan's cryptic comments, Rhodes was asked if he felt the defense suits him.

"Yeah, it is a defense that suits me now that I really understand the whole system and have been through it for a year and played well through the last part of the season and made plays."

Asked if he wanted to "stick around for the master's degree," Rhodes said, "That's the plan. Rhodes Scholar."

However, when The Post requested to interview him after Ryan's press conference, Rhodes declined through a spokesman.

Ryan did make one statement that wasn't directed specifically at Rhodes, but sure sounded relevant to the issue.

"Whoever we bring in here in the future has to play and practice and study to a certain standard, or you'll be an outcast and you'll be gone," Ryan said.

Ryan and Pettine, when they benched Rhodes, told him he wouldn't regain his starting job until he spent some one-on-one time with defensive-backs coach Dennis Thurman. Rhodes seemed reluctant, but eventually did.

I was more taken by the fact that he wrote a post about Tanny's ass and then posted the emoticon with the tongue hanging out. I thought he was past that whole "wanting to eat the corn out of Tanny's Fanny" thing.

I'd actively look to trade him for a 2nd or 3rd round pick if we were allowed to sign free agents. However, since we're not, I'm not dying to trade him and replace him with a rookie. He's still a good and valuable player. He's just not a star. Unfortunately, he thinks he is, and safety is a position where bigtime defenses usually have bigtime players.

Neither Rhodes nor Leonhard is a star or a bigtime playmaker. Both are very valuable in their own ways, but this defense could really use that Ed Reed/Troy Polamalu impact player that can take advantage of mistakes and score. Revis is a cornerback, so he's less likely to make big plays like that, and he doesn't.

That's funny, because the rumors look to be squashed in the article below your post. (Although it makes a nice play at trying to keep the story alive at the end.)

Can't coach what?!? Can't coach "heart?" WTF is that crap?

There are people who make millions of dollars per year teaching crowds of people how to stay motivated.

    And talent still trumps "heart."
