When Greene got hurt I said, "this game is borderline over if he doesn't come back." that was when we still had the lead.
When I saw him come back to the sidelines with his pads on I was stoked. I originally thougnt he was going to come back after that series. Too bad it wasn't to be.
It's not a knock on you because I don't expect you to know everything about our team but on our run Greene had been very effective in the 2nd half. That is where he has run wild. I don't know if it makes a difference but I think we get into the EZ again and it keeps your QB off the field.
Jones obviously was not the kind of back we needed for this game. He definitely froze instead of just going forward. Perhaps that is his style, but also I think he was surprised at how fast the Colt defense reacted. He played on his heels a few times. Greene going down was the second reason we lost the game (with that quick score by the Colts before the end of the first half being the first.) His style was more positive and I believed that he was going to get a couple of 20 yard runs.
I agree with you in principle, but that just isn't the way the Jets have played with Sanchez all year. Also, keep in mind, that most of Sanchez's success came off of either direct play-action or was at least in situations where the run was a legitimate threat. Sanchez has turned the ball over quite a bit this season in obvious passing situations (I can think of several examples specifically in the two-minute offense) and the Jets were still getting the ball to start the second half with a 4 point lead. I can understand arguments both ways but I really feel that the Jets probably did the prudent thing there. The bottom line in this game was, our defense could not stop the Colts when they had to and our offense really stalled in the second half once we lost Greene. The sequence starting with the Colts 80 yard drive at the end of the 1st half and ending with Feeley's missed 52 yarder was where the game was really decided. I agree, that in an ideal world, you would absolutely try and score there with an efficient two minute offense. I just don't think the Jets trust Sanchez enough to let him get in 3-5 WR sets and sling it down the field . . .while risking a costly turnover OR three incomplete passes (which would give Manning the ball back, again). Believe me, I understand your thought process and respect it. I just don't think putting Sanchez in a two-minute offense without needing to would have been the prudent thing to do there. The truth is, we weren't a complete team this year because we just didn't have a QB we trusted enough to rely on in critical game-changing situations. I really think this team has a bright future and when this quarterback deveops to the point where the Jets trust him completely, we will be a dangerous team.
i agree,,,once greene got hurt they failed to adjust. They should have abandoned Jones because he was just good for 2 yards which opened up obvious pass plays. If you ever wanted to take advantage of a hot Sanchez today was the day. Edwards will take some heat but i don't think he was far off. Just not the right time or place to make that comment.
I agree completely with Braylon. Yeah the run game got us here but Sachez was playing unbelievable and our recievers had no problem getting open. When Greene went out, Tj did nothing. Guy was running with tunnel vision, he had so many cutback lanes but instead just lowers his head and dives to the ground.... It sucks to say but I knew we were going to lose after what took place when we recovered that fumble. Just safe safe play calling, didn't take a shot at the endzone to really take over the game. We played for the fg, at that moment I knew we we're going to lose. Then sure enough 45 seconds later touchdown. Abandoning the Wildcat after one play was terrible. If theres a type of offense that gives the Colts fits its the wildcat. Brians play calling was nearly perfect the first half but then he just became sopredictable and conservative the 2nd half which amounted to 0 points.
The game was over after Greene got hurt! Thomas Jones should be released in the off season. He can't fking run for shit! If Greene was healthy, Colts has no chance of winning this game because Greene was about to run wild!
Addai had almost as many yds. as Jones and Greene combined, Jets got beat plain and simple, No Excuses!!!
Because the Jets were so concerned with the pass, it created big holes for Addai, because on some of those runs the Jets were out of position to make a solid tackle.
Forget Greene and the O; while that may have altered the course of the game - no matter what the situation came down to, our D wasn't gonna stop Manning at any crucial point in the 2nd Half.
They should have thrown more in the second half because Greene was out and TJ looked hurt, but if Greene (or TJ for that matter) was healthy that same gameplan wouldn't have been panned as conservative.
Nicely said. Damn, we went Ice cold in the second half. And why get away from the Wildcat as well? Never figured it out. Sfter they scored in the 2nd. with a minute left or so, its just like Rex and the whole damn team gave up. Sigh................ (Insert Tumbleweed blowing down a Ghost Town Street!).
This to me was a game where if sanchez threw 3 picks but had a good outting at least we stood toe to toe with them and tried to match them point for point... Second half should of been that approach instead of playing lets play defense and hope we hold them you knew Manning was warming up when he went in at half. We had to come out on that opening drive and score on them. From there on out it was a game of who can score more..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys, the better more expereince team an QB won today, no excuses. Losing Greene was huge, yes, but TJ should have been able to pick up the slack, he could not. Let's face it, the Jets move up in the draft to get this kid because they hoped he would be the beast he turned out to be. While TJ hops around behind the line before he runs Greene runs right for the hole or right behind the block and waits for nothing. He also keeps his legs going right to the very end or is brought down to the ground. Look at film or tape of TJ's very long runs, you will see they happen when he too hits the holes right away. Yet, with his style he likes to hop and shake and bake, as it were and all to often does not get going before being tackled. He also falls to the ground right at the point of first contact too many times. TJ has been great for us, but, if he is going to demand big dollars to resign then I say it's time to give the ball to Greene and Washington an allow TJ one more big pay day with another team paying the tab. As far as Braylon comments, wrong or right, tonight after the loss was not the time to make them. Because people will misunderstand them and twist them just like you see happening now. He should have kept his mouth shut and towed the club line and by supporting his coaches and teams mates , ask what could he doi to make this a better team and get us over the hump. Amazing that he does not realize the reason he is playing in NY in the first place is because he could not keep his mouth shut with the Browns.
