Of course he has all those yards, he has arguably the best OL in the NFL and the Jets run the ball more than any team in the NFL... Hes over rated.

We all know Jones is gone next year, do you see how much money is due to him if we keep him? Greene just made that decision really easy

i don't really see how anyone that's watched the last few games can argue that jones is a better and more explosive runner than greene. greene still has to prove he can stay healthy and handle the workload of an entire season but jones was absolutely worthless down the stretch for the jets, going all the way back to the falcons game where his poor performance almost cost the jets their season.

jones runs well when there's a big gaping hole to run through but isnt quick enough to make something out of nothing. he also has poor vision

Greene's durability is something to worry about. That's why I don't think they can just let TJ walk.

Even if Geene takes over as starter I still think we keep TJ for depth.

This post is a huge fail. He only led the AFC in rushing yards year last and averaged over 1400 this year. I hate this alarmist tripe,

I also believe TJ is a product of the O-line.

I didnt like his style of play since we brought him in and at this point enough is enough

the man is a soldier and I give him nuff respect but I dont think his role is hard to fill

Being worse than Greene does not mean that he "has to go." Neither Greene nor Washington are exactly models of perfect health, and Jones is a major team leader.

We shouldn't run the guy out of town because he ran out of gas after taking a ton of carries this season. He was probably our offensive MVP this season; there's still a valuable role for him here.

It really depends on Jones and his attitude whether or not he has to go. If he's willing to re-structure for less money and be happy at a reduced role, then great. If he still thinks that he's going to be "the man" running the ball then they probably have to get rid of him.

So your sick of having a top five rusher in the NFL season after season. That makes a ton of sense. People need to stop overreacting about his lack of production this postseason. A reduced role for him next year? Maybe but running him out of town? please, no.

Who else sees the irony of two threads shitting on Thomas Jones when our defense lost the game for us?

No, beacuse the Bears and their crappy running game were watching today's games at home on their couches. If we cut Thomas Jones they would be among the 29 teams lining up to give him a contract.

Thomas Jones is a very solid rb, but I'm not sure we need him next year. We can save a lot of money by cutting him and I really think Greene and Leon (if Leon's healthy, of course.) I think Jones can be a very good short yardage/goal line back if he is used in that role, however.

I understand the arguments on both sides of the issue, from a business standpoint he probably will be let go, way too much money, $6 mil for a back up is not a prudent business decision.

On the other hand he has been productive for us the past couple of years, however SG can get you in 19 attempts what it takes TJ 29 attempts, that's ten more possessions that are freed up to run play action or screens, or more passes to a top receiver we draft or sign...etc, the point is he is tying our hands for more plays, because he needs to be in a rhythm to be productive and that's not the way you want to run an offensive scheme.

The question is, will TJ continue to be productive or are we seeing the beginning of his decline with the knee injury?

He failed when it mattered most, he's on the decline, keep him if he is willing to take the

pay cut, but if he wants a lot of cash, he can hit the road. After watching Greene put

his body on the line and pushing for that extra yard run after run, and then watch our

top five rusher dive to the ground as soon as a defender comes within five feet of him

should piss a lot of people off. You can say he's off because of the lack of carries he's

been getting, but there is a reason for that, Greene going down put that game into the

Colts hands, I guarantee we could've put up another 14 points with the way Greene's

runs were starting to develop like all the other games.

    Thats how I feel anyway.
