It's seems like Smith hasn't thrown at all the last few games. Would tomorrow be a good time to have him air one out once the Colts stack the box on him? Too obvious and they'll be ready? How about a halfback option out of the Wildcat, do we have anyone out of the backfield that can throw the ball besides Smith?
We haven't seen a throw from Brad Smith all year and I doubt we see one in the AFC Championship game. I am hoping that I am wrong and that a throw works but I doubt we go there. The wildcat should be negated in this game by the fast Colts defense.
I think we may see Smith run an option where, if he has a guy wide open (ala Sanchez when Washington through that pass in the Titans game, even though it was called back on a penalty), and if no one is open, he'll try to pick up some yards or hand it to Greene/TJ
The Dolphins lined up wildcat pretty much the entire game against the Colts and ran it right down there throats. The Colts never adjusted and never stacked the box. If the Jets could do that and play a little better on defense they win. Net Yards Rushing 239 Total Rushing Plays 49 Average Gain per Rushing Play 4.9 Net Yards Passing 164 Time of Possession 45:07
Haven't we been saying that since week 16? Not saying it won't happen though. I'd love to see it work.
It would be pretty risky to have Smith throw tomorrow. I'm getting visions of Leon Johnson option passes in my mind <shudder>.
I know that Leon and Edwards can throw it. Edwards has a cannon, I remember reading somewhere he can throw it 70+ yards.
part of me say yes do it and another part sees the half back pass against detroit in 97. the bread and butter is running the ball. They go in saying we will run so try and stop it. When teams can't it is not only a physical beating it is mental. That is why they dion't only wear teams down physically they beat up their confidence. Get guys tired of taking hits or losing focus trying to do to much which opens up holes. If hey want to throw with Smith do it with a if he is wide open rex ryan could hit him throw if not it better land in the stands
We've talked about this for every PO game and it hasn't come up. They gave up on the option vs San Diego and I think we don't use the seminole much honestly
what the fuck is with all of you and Brad Smith throwing the football. The minute this happens and it goes bad, don't say anything because you wanted it to happen. You all sound like the Schotty we wanted fired 2 months ago. Let's do something they'll never expect that's extremely risky. It'll be so awesome!
Not gonna happen. Smith threw one pass this year out of a fake punt formation, and three other passes in his four-year NFL career. I don't care how many yards he had in college, he just can't be anything but rusty, and I don't want rusty throwing passes tomorrow. In fact, I'd be shocked if we ran anything but straight up the middle out of the TigerCat toworrow. You don't think those quick Ends will be looking for the option when #16 is under center?? Don't get cute, just bang it up the middle. Having said all that, a completed Brad Smith pass in a big spot would become my all-time favorite Jets play. Is it 3:00 yet?
