You're brick wall. And I do have a studied reply (similar to the one you just offered :up, but I simply don't have the patience to spell out the flaws in all your BS. However, I will do my best to sum it up for you: I never said YPC meant everything. It is, however, and indicator of how consistent a back is over time. But even so, your defense stuffing an elite rusher for half a game is hardly worth boasting about. The truth is, your defensive stats are pulled from a 16 game season, which is more than enough of a sample, and you're ranked 24th against the rush. This... ...is a generalization. So don't BS. And this "theme" you're referring to isn't something "we've" conjured up out of nowhere, as you should well know. If you're confused, please allow me to educate you. Again, it seems as if you have trouble reading. I never said "roughshod", cowboy. I said we'll be able to run it up the middle for 3-5 yards, and that the quickness of your defense won't be helpful in preventing it. Please state my "generalization", because I call BS.
Actually, he indirectly supported this claim when he began sticking up for his boy, Freebo. Am I right, cowboy? Or will you alter history again by claiming that never took place?
And that might be the case if we let you get up by 2 scores or more as well, but the Ravens abandoned the run far too early, and tried to have a wounded QB and so-so receivers win the game for them. They panicked. That was a HUGE tactical mistake, and I think you know that. A) The Jets will not abandon the run unless they are down well into the 4th quarter, b) The Jets will not panic, and c) We have better and more receiving weapons than the Ravens, and d) I think people may be seriouslyunderestimating Sanchez's abilities at this point in the season. Those 5 pick games are ancient history. Shotty will not put him in that position, and Sanchez will not play that foolishly any more. If that #6 is called, I am confident that Sanchez will step up, and will be far more effective than a wounded Flacco was. If you watched the SD game and think that the Jets running game was ineffective in the first half, then you don't understand how ground-n-pound is played. We will have 1560 pounds of pro bowl caliber linemen beating on your 1135 pound defensive line for 60 solid minutes. That punishment will slow them down - just a little - and that's all you need. Ravens oline <> Jets oline, and Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene are far more punishing than Ray Rice and Willis MacGahee are (at this point in MacGahee's career....)
How convenient. you talk about YPC, then I debunk your theory and all you can come up with is, "indicator of how consistent a back is over time". The Colts and Jets aren't going to play a series, it's one and done. Every game is unique unto itself. And I never boasted about stuffing an elite runner for a half. I simply pointed out that the Colts have had decent success against some of the best backs in the league. Why is that so hard for you to admit? I forgot, this isn't every other team, this is the Jets, the best rushing team ever. I've acknowledged the strengths of the Jets and the flaws of the Colts and you call me a brick wall? There are some Jets posters on this board have said that I get it and have posted some decent analysis. I'm done trying to have any meaningful dialect with you. Reply and call me names, stupid, ignorant or whatever I won't care or reply to it. Now go ask your mommy to make you some hot cocoa with those little marshmallows you like. It might calm you down.
Yea, help me with that, I'm having a hard time making that connection.......... I remember reading somewhere that it takes 11 guys to win a game. One guy can't do it, and I don't care how talented that one guy is.
I think what he meant, is that Manning will direct an offense that moves the chains and keeps the ball out of the Jets hands. Manning will go deep if the D gives him the opportunity, but the last two years, he's been more balanced on the passing game using it like a running game.
How convenient. You have no response for me calling out your BS generalization, and you can't point out where I made one myself. Regarding my YPC "theory", I have no inkling as to WTF you're referring to. The irony of you attempting to belittle me by suggesting I'm a child, while in the same sentence making one of the most immature statements I've ever read, is really overwhelming. I'll hold you to it, cowboy.
Okay, back on topic please... Ultimately, I am impressed with the Jets fervor and tenacity to make it to the AFCCG this year, albeit I feel the Colts will win this game by more than 7 points. Stats for the regular season and playoffs have shown the jets style of play requires your team to be able to run the ball an excess of 30 times to win the game. Playing against the Colts, I feel that game plan may be possible, but there are other factors which may limit your team from the "needed" amount of rush attempts this game. First, your team can not fall behind by more than 7 points; your QB can not throw the ball more than 20 times this game...at one point against the chargers Rex became nervous, this was shown when he chose the ill advised pass plays and also in the red zone with "Sanchise" rolling out to pass the ball; Finally, the Jets can not allow PM to dink and dunk the entire game. This is "our" version of the run and you did witness an 8 minute scoring drive on B'More and a 90 second scoring drive right after it... The Colts don't care to run the ball, but against the Jets, I think our run stats (ypc and yards) for the first half and first 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter (when more starters were playing) were comparable if not better than the Jets. We had 2 rushing TD's and approximately 50 yards rushing. Not to mention Revis getting beat by Wayne for 2 passing TD's that were a bit over thrown by Manning and the 1 to Dallas Clark... Now your team must prepare for Garcon to be in the line up with Charlie Johnson and "all" of our defensive starters in the game (exception Sanders and other IR...but that's no excuse...play who you have and they better perform).
Wouldn't expect anything less. I would think that if they want to play the posession time game though, they would be better off using the running game to do it. Putting the ball in the air close to 60% of the time against this defense, I would think, is pretty risky even for Peyton Manning.
Why do you feel putting the ball in the air 60 percent of the time would be risky? That's what we do...we are not a primary running team...We pass the ball and get the defense to over commit to the pass and run about 20 times per game. The short pass is the running game. Addai will chip block and roll out into the flats and if the LB doesn't pick him up, Peyton will hit him for a quick 5 yard gain. If your LB or DB misses a tackle then it will be a 10 yard gain...very simple and vanilla, but precise.
The Chargers short pass was their running game too. That shit got blown up didn't it? This Jet team is coming off a game where they basically shutdown a very similar offense to yours and your qb is more prone to int's than even Rivers was.
I have to agree with the Colts fan. They throw that much because that is their identity. If they stop throwing so much and try to establish the run like we do, they are out of their element, just like the Chargers were last Sunday - and we would have them as easily. I have zero hope of the Colts being that stupid on Sunday. It's going to be strength against strength, not weakness against strength, if Peyton has anything to do with it.
Really? Why would you say that? The Colts played tougher opponents all year than Rivers. Peyton has played your defense once this year without all of his starters on O and he had approximately 200 yards of O in 2 quarters and 4 minutes. Similar offense how? The Colts rcvrs run routes and the Chargers depend on height, the Colts rcvrs are speedy the Chargers are not, Peyton has owned Rex and the Ravens...The Pats and Steelers mastered the moving 3-4 and now Peyton plays against it better than any QB in the NFL at this moment. Don't forget, the Chargers offense destroyed your defense in the first half of the game...those missed FG's kept you in the game...
The ravens turned the ball over 4x, one on an int that got stripped. 2 int's and one long pass and run and a fumble. Take away 2 of those plays and you have a much closer game. Let's face it. The Ravens beat themselves much more than the Colts actually beat them. The Ravens did not commit to a smart game plan and played undisciplined football, plain and simple.
Wow. week 16 is irrelevant. 4 Colts defensive starters did not play at all. (Bullet, Powers, Session, and Mathis) Others with limited snaps. 2 Offensive starters did not play at all (Garcon and Charlie Johnson), and Addai only played 1 series. Week 16 was the Colts JV team in the 1st half. And the Freshman team in the 2nd, with a couple opf oversized 8th graders thrown in for good measure. (This is plagarized from some real writer somewhere) Even that is irrelevant. Colts defense was 8th in the league in points allowed. 19.2. They give up yards... but really tighten up in the red zone and hold teams to field goals. Indy's Offense was 7th in points scored this year. 26.0 Jets D - #1 AT 14.8 points allowed, and offense #17 at 21.8 points scored. What does all this mean? Zip. Squat. Nada. They PLAY the games for a reason. This years Colts defense is not the defense you have seen out of Indy for the last couple decades. They are a lot more aggressive, blitz more, have more BEEF in the middle, have a real upcoming MLB (Clint Session) now. Do your Jets have a chance? Yep. Do my Colts have a better chance? I think so. I'd bet most of you disagree. But none of us KNOW. We're all fans. I'll say this though. If the Jets win Sunday and advance to the Big Dance in Maimi... I'll be a J E T S fan for two weeks. Jabba
The only team that can beat the Colts is the Colts. I can't wait to find out how they beat themselves this Sunday.
Please, inform me how does the game change if you take away two of the turnovers? I am waiting...the Colts scored 3 points off of the Peyton interception fumble...That was it...3 points... Please, tell me how the game would have changed?
you're telling me that 2 less turnovers cannot possibly result in 2 more scores for the Ravens and possibly changing the momentum of the game in their favor? Um, do you watch football or do you just blindly ride Peytons jock?
Actually, the only team that can beat the Colts this week is the Jets I think "Sanchize" needs a Big Ben perormance from 2005 and your secondary has to step up big time... Safeties are the difference maker that got Manning in the 3-4 moving line defense. The Corners had to play their zone and be aggressive...but with the NFL committee putting in the 5 yard chuck and the defenseless rcvr rules...it sort of handicaps an aggressive defense...Thanks Polian
