I am not saying we are the greatest defense in history. But if you think the Jets are going to come to Indy and punk us on the ground for 170 yards plus then you are sadly mistaken. You might want to actually pay some attention to how good Indy's defense really is, because you're in for a big surprise this weekend.
Every team we've played knew we were going to run... they've all try to stop us, and we've averaged more than 170 yards per game. Are you trying to say that the colts have a top 3 run defense in the NFL? Its not proven, they had one good game against the Ravens, and suddenly the Colt's (24th ranked) rush defense is the best in the AFC? I find that to be silly. The question isn't really "will the Jets run successfully on the Colts?"they're going to. The real question is can the Jets stop the Colts passing attack (2nd Ranked Passing attack led by Peyton Manning vs. the Jets 1st ranked pass defense) enough to stay in the game. If Peyton leads the Colts down the field and gets up 10-0 or 14-0 early, then the Jets will feel the pressure of having to keep up score wise.
That will be our game plan (to jump out to a big lead), but even if we don't pull away I don't see you guys running for 170+. I mean that is ridicules. We are not the Bengals or Chargers. We will fight our ass off and we have some scrappy players. You won?t see us lose our composure like they did. You will get some good runs, but you can't win this game just running the ball. It's not going to go down like that.
I hope that Rex and his crew are game planning the way the Jets fans are because if so then this game is going to fall right into our hands perfectly. I am not saying we are going to pass all over you guys and that?s why I find it to be so silly that so many Jets fans think they will run all over the Colts. Actually looking at the first half in the last game we got the best of you guys in both categories. Even with that I am not saying we are going to have our way against you. This will be a tough game.
Unless you're somehow of the belief that the Colts have the best run defense in the league, I don't understand why you think the Jets going for 170+ on the ground is ridiculous. There is nothing ridiculous about it. It's what we've done against the best run D's in the league and unless the Colts pull away, we will do it again on Sunday. Again, the Colts pulling away wouldn't be a big surprise, they clearly have the talent to do that. If they don't, it shouldn't be a surprise when the Jets rush for 170+.
Jets Rushing Yards: Week 16: 202 Week 17: 257 Wild Card: 171 Divisional: 169 Colts over the regular season give up 127 yards per game on the ground. If I'm Schotty, I set the tone early. I put Wayne Hunter next to D'Brick and run Greene at Freeney with T-Rich lead blocking. Punch Freeney in the mouth. The guys the best pass rusher in the league, he doesn't want to get beaten down in the run game.
Why would we have to have the best run defense in the league to stop you from getting 170+? The Ravens averaged 137.5 a game and they only got 87 against us.
The Ravens oline is not ours. Why can't you admit there is a damn good chance we'll at least rush our AVERAGE?? 3 oliners are going to the Pro-Bowl, can you guess why that is? I'll give you a Freebo, http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing (postseason) http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing/seasontype/2 (regular)
Because no team you have played is like Peyton Manning. You are not going to run for 170 yard plus on us. Get that crazy ass thought out of your head. If you want to beat us then you better do it in all three phases of the game. 100 yards passing against us will not work like it did last week against the Chargers. Not going happen. I expect for you guys to rush for 110 and pass for 170. That is the most plausible.
Just like the Phins, if Peyton plays so great it'll take him 55 seconds to score. Then we'll drive for 10 minutes, but then we will stop you unlike Miami. You are like talking to a brick wall, just admit we are going to pound the ball down your vagina's.
Well you can live in fantasy land all you want. I know you guys have a shot in this game, but Sanchez is going to have to be a key player if you are going to do it. You are not going to run for 170+ yards on us. I'll stop pounding your vagina if you promise stop beating on my dick.
You don't. You're changing the argument. You said it was RIDICULOUS to think the Jets would rush for 170+ against the Colts. They have done it against much better run defenses. Is it possible for the Colts to keep us below 170? Sure. It's likely that the only way that happens is if they take the run out of the game by scoring on offense though.. The Ravens have nothing to do with the Jets. They came out passing and fell behind 2 scores. The Jets will come out running and have the better defense so it's conceivable that the game will remain closer and the Jets will continue to run.
How am I changing my argument? You guys are not going to run for 170 yhards plus on us. Thinking that you will is silly that I think it might be one of the most ridicules prediction that I have ever seen in my life. It?s one of the most arrogant and lazy things I have ever seen. I wouldn?t have a problem with it if you guys were joking, but you really believe this.
I don't know why I'm wasting my time explaining this to you, because I'm sure you won't get it. There is a big difference between saying it's possible for the Colts D to keep us below our season average and it's INSANE to think the Jets will rush for 170+. Again, you have yet to give any type of logical argument as to why it's INSANE to think the Jets can rush for there season average against the average Colts run defense. All you do is keep using more adjectives (insane, ridiculous, arrogant, lazy). Please enlighten us with some reasons.
I'd bet on 150. No doubt. Just a question: do you seriously think your run D is as good as the Bengals? They were missing Malauga, I'll give ya that, but Peko is a beast inside and you dont have any DT as good as him. Plus Freeney and Mathis are more pass rushers than run stopping beasts. Dude, how is it ridiculous if they've done it two games a row in the playoffs? LOL. The only way we don't run for 150 is if the Colts go up by two scores early, which is possible.
I have given good reason as to why you won't run for 170+ 1. Peyton Manning (Game Plan - Make you Pass to stay in the game) 2. Ravens - 137.5 during the regular season and 268 yards on the Patriots (wildcard game) but only 87 on us. 3. Our defense is better than the stats show. The last two weeks skewed our season numbers badly. All are valid points so what more do you want? You can bet here: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=53571
the key is carries here. I don't have the exact stat, but I am willing to bet against the Pats, the Ravens ran the ball 45+ times. against you they ran it 19 times for a ypc of 4.5 yards. So the ravens stupidly decided to throw the ball far too often early in the game when they were moving it on the ground effectively and thats why they fell behind. The Jets are so freaking stubborn we won't even attempt to pass the ball more than 18 times by choice. If we run the ball 40+ times at that 4.5 ypc clip that the Ravens did, that would be a total of 180 yards. If we are even close to in the game going into the fourth we will have already run the ball 35 times....
How do you expect to run 40 times on us? The Ravens would have loved to run 40 times on us, but they couldn't because we took that away from them by being in the lead. The Ravens had one good run all day of 20 yards and that was when we were expecting pass in prevent defense. So 18-67 is a much lesser average (3.72).
