Well Indy has the 24th ranked run D. That's not that good, and I think the NYJ will be able to run the ball on them. I'm aware they shut down Baltimore last week, but I'll put more stock into their 16 game regular season totals than one game a week ago. We will see.
Our defense is better than most people think it is. Not trying to troll. Just saying that a lot of people in the media and fans of other teams think it's easy to run on the Colts and it's really not.
Colts have allowed six 100+ yard backs this season. They were five yards shy of allowing TWO 100+ yard backs against the Jets. T. Jones: 23 att, 105 yds, TD S. Greene: 16 att, 95 yds
Nobody is saying your D is terrible. I didn't watch any Indy games other than NYJ@IND week 16 and NE@IND so I can't exactly give an educated opinion on your defense. Based on the numbers: 18th ranked overall defense, 24th ranked run D. That doesn't exactly scare anyone.... coupled with the fact that it's more of a speed/cover 2 defense our OL should not have much trouble opening up holes. Feel free to correct me where I'm wrong.
Exactly...how stupid is this. It reminds me of the New Jersey Net commercials with the music blasting and the Nets dunking..hitting incredible 3 pointers..to go along with their 3 wins. Ends with a goal line stance against the Ravens. We have had about 7 of those this year.
Here you go, per game, Colts defense, yards rushing against and YPC 114/4.4 239/4.9 24/2 49/2.6 90/4.3 155/5.2 (and that's St. Louis!) 113/6.3 81/3.1 113/4.0 98/3.2 122/5.1 142/4.3 95/3.2 139/4.2 202/4.6 248/5.9 That's 11 games out of 16 that you struggled against the run. Yeah, I'd say you're weak there.
I see your point, but those last two games we did give up a ton of yards on the ground. Before we rested our starters we were in the middle of the pack in run defense. We have had some bright spots throughout the year in our run defense too, and have held some good backs to modest numbers. Other than a long TD to Gore, we really haven't given up many big runs (first 14 games).
freebo has been one of the best colts posters here, he is definitely not a troll, he just likes to start threads
To a Colts fan it is a cool video and to a Jets fan it won't be. I get that and have no beefs with it. Again, not trying to troll, but make a case for the Colts run defense being much better than in recent years.
I can't argue that we have given up some yards. I can say the last two games are skewed and I think most people would agree with that. We haven't proven ourselves to be as good against the run as the Jets, but we are much better than people think we are, especially in key situations.
The Colts run defense is a major topic here and for good reason. Just trying to make a case for it being better than people think it is. I have personally seen an improvement this year.
Colts' D is definitely a bit underrated, but I still think we'll be able to run on them. The Bengals allegedly had the #2 run D in the league before we played them. Could have fooled me, we ran for 250 and 170 on them in back to back weeks. Again, Indy's D definitely deserves some props, but you can't fault a Jet fan for being confident in our ability to run on them Sunday.
And yet they went 14-2. Makes it even more impressive that Peyton is the best player, let alone qb, in the NFL.
I am sure you will have some good runs on us. You guys run the ball great. It's a key matchup in the game. We just have to contain the run enough to where it doesn't dominate the game.
