I know... it makes you wonder about some of us Jets fans. I knew Rhodes had deep middle on that zone... you could even see him smacking himself on the helmet right after the TD. Scott had short middle. They were in zone.

That is the sort of mistake that got Rhodes benched this year. He regularly blows his assignments. He only cares about the big play. He leaves his assignment hoping he can guess right and make a big play.

Blaming that play on Scott.... well, if you did, you don't have a clue. Harris may be "the" guy, but Scott is the glue that makes it all work.

I initially thought Rhodes also but after watching the game a few times already...
    It was on both....

If Rhodes was assigned to double the WR then it's not his fault but If he had the TE assignment then it was on both unless Scott was assigned to sit in a Zone because he had safety help.

Eitherway, there was a small breakdown that was exploited...

at the same time you guys can't get all butthurt if someone sees it differently....I've rewatched it several times and still can't tell who had what assignment.

I find it hard to believe that Scott was at fault but in reality...you can't tell unless you know the exact assignment on that play.

Scott will play he's a gamer. Will be tough for Ellis since he's really only got one good had to get hold of the QB.

    ^ Any answers?

As someone mentioned, aside from his physical impact on the game, he's a leader as an usher of Rex's scheme and confidence. This D is fairly young and most of them haven't reached this point in the league -- the pressure, magnitude of the game, etc.

Bottom line, he absolutely needs to be on the field for us to have any chance to win.

    All will play

I doubt there is a player on either side that won't suit up and play, the question is to what degree will the injuries impact their play. Your guy with the broken had will play, but how will the inability to grap at things impact on his effectiveness. With Scott, an ankle is a touchie thing, how will he hand making cuts and such. Indy comes in pretty healthy...

Unfortunately, a sprain is not something that goes away quickly. They're pretty stubborn and painful. I rolled my ankle one time and it took 6 months for it to feel 100%

Not trying to be negative but this ain't good.

I'm not denying he's a beast; but if he's limping right now just while walking, 3.5 days before the game, it can't be overlooked. And as the Indy fan stated, an ankle for a LB - esp versus a fast Offense - can have an immense impact on his play, much more than Ellis' broken hand will impact his effectiveness.

As for a smokescreen, I doubt it. I doubt Rex is trying to bait Indy into running more or gameplanning for someone else back there or something like that. In fact, I don't think you can really smokescreen Indy's Offense because of Manning's ability to be an Off. Coord. on the field.

Terrific analysis of the situation. We have to do what we have to do depending on how Scott's ankle is on game day. I don't want a gimpy LB trying to keep up to speed... sorry.

    as per cbs sports

The Jets held three players out of practice today: DE Shaun Ellis (broken hand), FB Tony Richardson (ribs) and RB Thomas Jones. Jones has been rested on Wednesdays for the past several weeks. LBs David Harris and Bart Scott were both limited with sprained ankles.

Favoring a heavily taped left ankle? So his left was heavily taped, but he right is what's bothering him?

    According to Backpage Sports.com:

"NY Jet Bart Scott was seen limping during practice today and when asked by this reporter following practice, Mr. Scott replied that due to his "ouchy" he probably won't be able to play this weekend because he doesn't want his a** to be embarrased by the mighty Colts Offense, so he probably won't even dress."

too be honest, even though this is a joke, I could totally see Scott saying exactly this in the most sarcastic tone possible. I actually wish he would. It would fire up the whole team!
