Typical response, your holier than thou Colt fans would never act that way. Yup, I'm delusional, and surley you have not had any bandwagoners jump on. Speaking of bandwagon, leave it to a Colts fan to bash Patriots fans on a Jets board where you know everyone shares the same sentiment.
I can spell it out in crayons for you if you need me to. Colts at Patriots 20,000 fans in 1991 Patriots at Colts 40,000 fans in 1991 Both teams sucked. Pats were coming off of a 1-15 year and we were at the end of a 1-15 year. The Boston market is 4 times bigger than Indy. So Yea, your bus only grew as soon as you started winning Super Bowls. How is the weather there?
I'm talking about RIGHT NOW, not 1991 when both teams sucked. Your stadium sells out every week now does it not? If you would read what I typed, I agreed we have "bandwagon" fans. And just added that so does your team. So pot/kettle.
The Boston market is bigger due to the success of the sox, celtic ect..so that is a shitty comparison.
It's as even of a comparison as you will ever get. The math will tell you if Colts fans were fair-weather like Pats fans then we would have only sold 5,000 tickets each game. So what you're saying is that you're really only Pats fans when the Pats are winning? So then you agree. Good. My work with you is done.
I only saw a couple of Pats games this season and noticed alot of empty seats, has this been the case all season?
You are an idiot. When in the hell was I refering to myself personally. I have stated 2 god damn times that there are always going to bandwagon/fairweather fans(that give true long time fans a bad rep). Are you not reading? Ahh.. your seeing what you want to see. All I asked for you to was admit that the Colts have collected more fans aswell due to their success. What the hell is so hard about that?
I did not notice too much of a change personally. Since we could only seem to win at home this year  Figured I would throw that out there, since we are all fairweather fans. But in seriousness. No I did not notice that myself.
It sticks in mind, because when I noticed it, it was during gametime, not at the half or end, large portions of the upper stands were empty.
The mid-level "club" seats have some kind of option for people to go indoors. We all hate it and hate that the "bigwigs" who get those seats don't stay out the whole time and cheer. But it is what it is, I guess. Gillette is a nice stadium, state-of-the-art and all that, but it's not a real loud place for visiting teams.
Only Pats fans would imply that other teams had as much of a bandwagoning effect as they had. Most people who called themselves Pats fans after their first SB didn't even know what a football looked like before then.
Allow me to chime in here. Actually Freebo, this is a perfect example because the Colts-Patriots games were always the lowest attended games back then. I remember being at a game at the old Foxboro Stadium/Sullivan Stadium/Schafer Stadium or whatever it was called in the early 90's. It was a Colts-Pats game late in the season and both teams were terrible. I shit you not when I say that it was like attending a High School football game there were so few people there. We had so-so seats but we ended up sitting in like the 10th row not far from the 50 yard line. It was a great game and the Pats won in OT on a bomb from Mark Wilson to Irving Fryar (or Stanley Morgan-can't quite remember). That was the Pats' fan base before the big Tuna came to town. Things have never been the same since. I have always been a die-hard Jets fan but I have also lived in NE pretty much my whole life and have always followed the Pats in a hated rival sort of way.
Amen. It's great to finally see two teams at the end of this decade built of good stock and character duking it out for the AFC Championship. One of my best friends is married to a Patriots fan, and I told him that if he brings her to the AFCCG party I'm throwing she can stay in the car. In otherwords: Screw the Patriots! Oh and screw the Steelers too!
Let me ask, and I'm not being antagonistic here... What do you think will happen if the Jets win a Super Bowl? Then another? Then another? In four years? Teams that win titles certainly end up with a lot of bandwagon fans, and of course they lose interest if things start going downhill. All I'm saying is it's a natural process... no?
You Indy fans are all just bitter because of Manning's choke jobs in the playoffs. I honestly thought I would have gotten way more shit for being a Pats fan on a Jets board, by other Jets fans..all I was trying to say is the Colts have picked up some extra fans also. I was not debating how many..just that they have.
