It's OK, some people just can't admit when they're wrong. I understand. If not for the great Brett Favre, we probably wouldn't have Rex Ryan or Mark Sanchez. You should be thankful.
The Jets are his 2nd favorite team....behind his beloved Pennington and the Phins. what a ridiculous thing to say, IS.
Yeah, because I was on here making threads praising Pennington when he beat Favre and the Jets to get in the playoffs last year, right? Or wrong?
we're all diehard Jets fans here...especially WSW. But some of us show respect to players from outside the franchise as well. I don't agree with how Favre conducts himself off the field....but on the field, the guy is a sure-fire hall of famer and deserves the respect of football fans everywhere. I just think you need to calm it down a bit. We know you hate Favre........but don't discredit any other poster's appreciation for other players in this league. It doesn't mean WSW is any less of a Jets fan. You're better than that.....at least, I assume you are.
having mostly the same players hardly equates to the same basic team. this team has far more differences that are just as great as replacing Favre with Sanchez. in fact, I'd say coaching is the biggest defining difference between last years and this years team, so dismissing that is just ludicrous. we are doing better this year on the strength of a fantastic defensive coach. plain and simple. it is dishonest to attempt to say we are virtually the same as last year just with a different QB.
I'm perfectly calm. I just don't get why a "Jet fan" devotes so much energy to pumping up Favre, like we don't get enough of that everywhere else, on a Jets board when we have our own stuff going on which is historic for our team. And you taking a Pennington jab at me is hilarious, I was a Pennington fan because of what he did for the Jets. Why any Jet fan would still root for Favre is beyond me, however good or bad he's doing.
The offense is the same coach and system, the same players minus Leon and plus Greene at RB--a wash, minus Coles and plus Edwards at WR--probably a disadvantage. Sanchez gave us as good a year and got better at the end, he didn't shit the bed so he could punch his ticket to Minnesota to settle a personal vendetta.
except we aren't doing better this year on the strength of the offense, it all revolves around the defense. it's the D that keeps us in games and allows us to hand the ball off play after play, go 3 and out for nearly entire first halves and yet still be in a position to win.
I've always been a fan of Favre, I'm not sure why you have such a problem with that. It's not like he was ever playing for a division rival or anything. It hardly takes much energy to reply to this thread as I'm sure you've discovered by posting in it. Again, if Favre didn't suck at the end of last season for the Jets we probably wouldn't have Sanchez or Ryan. He helped us out tremendously in that regard.
I really want to get involved but I want to stay away from the bitter arguments while the Jets are alive. We all want the same thing and that is for our team to win this week and in Miami.
By that logic we should be celebrating Rick Kotite too, after all he netted us Bill Parcells, Wayne Chrebet and Keyshawn Johnson, mostly by being awful.
Fuck Brett Favre. Fuck how he conducts himself off the field, on the field, in the field, out of the field, above the field, under the field, I don't give a shit, fuck him. He's a shithead.
He looked good against two teams that imploded, otherwise he's been mediocre or worse. Luckily for him the rest of his team has been good enough to carry him. It's not like this is the most talented team he's been on in the last decade or anything.
