I argued w/ some Charger fans last week about Kaeding. He's an updated version of Mike Vanderjagt, great reg season K but w/ postseason pressure he can't perform. Some guys just can't handle it.

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't understand why we did that

We had a kicker who crumbled under pressure as well... you may have heard of him. Doug Brien. What did we do? We got rid of him. Maybe its time to upgrade your kicker as well, because this obviously isn't a fluke thing. And don't try to act like it is...

The short pop up kicks were working, I don't know why we didn't do that again?

I thought that squib kickoff was going to bite us in the ass. The guy made a nice play grabbing it cleanly on the run. Great play by Rhodes on the onside kick, which was a damn good one. Kaeding's going to have one of those miserable offseasons. He should be happy he plays in San Diego...

I thought this was our best effort on Special teams since week 16 against Indy. Our kickoff/Punt coverage was generally very good. Feely made a pressure-packed 46 yard kick. Weatherford's punt inside the 5 set up the Leonhard interception (one of the 2 or 3 biggest plays of the game) We also forced Cromartie to fumble on the kick return right after we took the lead. I can actually only think of one bad special teams play - the first Weatherford punt. Other than that one punt, we were very good on special teams yesterday.

Rhodes play on the Onsides kick was amazing and shouldn't go un-noticed.

No way. Both Chargers TDs came off atrocious punts. First TD 'Ford punted only 41 yards on open field with 9 yard return to Jets 49. This was atrocious kick. We were very fortunate we got penalty. If special teams did not screw up this punt, but had a good one, with the penalty they could have been starting deeper inside their territory and more of the field to go for TD. On the second TD also we had a bad special teams play when they tipped the punt and instead of starting on their own 10, they had the ball around 40 yard line. STs almost lost us the game yesterday, and you guys are acting like they did a good job.

What the fuck was up with the squib kick late in the game? That was retarded.

Indeed. Plus I recall there was another kick that they returned pretty far. Not to mention some bad punting coverage. I see a lot of time how Westhoff is considered as one of the best and business, and I just don't get it. I noticed our special teams are becoming a liability after that second Miami game. How can a a respected ST coach allow 2 TD returns in one game? And now I see STs are burdening the defense, playing a critical role in both TDs allowed yesterday. Defense already has enough to worry about with some of the best QBs and offenses NFL has to offer, plus inability of our offense to even get 1st down for 4 straight possessions. Now they have to worry about STs too? This is just too much. STs better step up again Colts. Manning will make us pay if we give him short field all night long.
