Hopefully the refs actually let them play this week. Terrible officiating thus far in the playoffs.

Green Bays pass defense was no where near as good as the Jets pass defense. Not close.

They gave up about 50 more pass YPG and 21 more passing TD's. They also didn't face a single top 5 passing attack while the Jets played 5 games against the top 4.

How does the Jets offensive passing game fit into that correlation?

What does the Jets passing game have to do with the fact that the Cards passed all over the Packers #2 ranked defense?

Phillip Rivers is going to pass all over the Jets' offense. Jerricho Cotchery can't cover worth a shit.

To be honest, teams have taken VJ away, though most of the time because they leave someone else open. VJ scares teams because he is physical off the line and can get open deep. Add the fact that Rivers is extremely accurate and can put the ball in a position that maximizes the height advantage our receivers generally have and it makes them difficult to cover. VJ is not the best WR in the league but he is definitely in the top mix. He would have put up better numbers if this offense didn't have so many weapons. Rivers is pretty damned good at reading what the defense is doing and making pre-snap adjustments. In the latter area, he has improved immensely over last year.

Gates is typically the one that benefits most when teams look to shutdown VJ. But both Floyd and Nanee have made some huge catches this year. Floyd has made probably the most spectacular type catches of any of the Charger receivers this year. Someone said that Volek had no one else to throw to. That isn't the truth. I recall that Buster Davis had something like 6 catches against the skins.

I see no one on here discussing LT. That's not surprising but he is not nearly as done as people think. There is also Sproles to account for. If he gets his hands on the ball in space he is a big threat.

As to putting Rivers on his ass all game. Well, your team had 32 sacks this year. The Chargers had 35 and we sure as hell ain't bragging about our sack totals. Sure, your argument will be that y'all force QBs to throw before they're ready. OK, but the Chargers have a good layered attack and don't depend entirely on the screen to beat the blitz. The type of offense Norv runs is designed to deal with the blitz and Rivers is not nearly as uncomforatble with pressure as Tom Brady was this year. Anytime I saw a game in which Brady played this year I thought he should be wearing a dress.

Sacks are not a great way of determining how good a pass rush is, we get tons of QB hits, and a few sacks.

Last year we were top 5 in sacks but our pass rush is 100% better this year.

I understand you guys get a lot of QB pressures, and that, against the Carson Palmers of the world, is all you need.

However, I cannot reiterate enough how good Rivers is in the face of a pressured rush. He has extremely robust pocket presence and a very quick release. You will have to be even better than normal to fluster him.

I know Rivers is probably the 2nd best QB in the NFL against the blitz, with Brees ranked first.

Brees' offense scored 10 points against us, he had 0 TDs and under 200 yards.
