I don't think Andre Johnson has anything to do with this matchup. That said, Andre Johnson is the best WR in the NFL. He should have been a Jet. The Texans are twats.
As was said, Revis can (and probably will) shut down Jackson, but Floyd, Gates, LT, and Sproles are all offensive threats. What you can't do is be surprised when San Diego puts up points. They're GOING to score a TD or 2. It's just how we react to that. Can we come down the field and punch one in? Can we get a big stop on D and turn it into points? Turnovers are going to be a massive factor.
Revis is obviously the only CB on the Jets entire roster, all of the other receivers will be uncovered and wide open every play due to them all being 6'5+. Vincent Jackson is 2 inches taller then Andre Johnson which makes him 2x better.

how can that be right, the only reason VJ is regarded as a good receiver is because he's 2 inches taller than AJ.
I will concede that Andre Johnson is a better receiver than Vincent Jackson, but the reason I keep brining up Jackson’s weight and power is because of the way Revis stops people. Revis jams receivers harder than any corner I’ve watched. He was practically undressing Ochocinco every snap. Receivers have to fight all the way to the 5 yard mark, which makes them late on their route. Combine that with the Jets crazy blitzes which don’t allow the QB enough time to let the route develop, and you have a shut down receiver. It truly is a thing of beauty to watch. The key is to push Revis to the 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage as fast as possible. If Revis can not get unengaged from his receiver by the time he his driven back to the 5 yard mark, it is an illegal contact penalty. Jackson, being bigger and stronger than Andre Johnson can drive Revis 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage quicker than Johnson. With Houston, the Jets were free to release the hounds. They do not have the dizzying array of targets that require a full defensive backfield. Safeties and corner can become blitzers, Matt Schaub has no time, and Andre Johnson is shut down. The Charger hope the Jets release the hounds. Please do leave Gates in single coverage, or Floyd, or the check-down back. The line is good at pass blocking, and Rivers has shown a knack for finding the uncovered guy or area abandoned by a blitzer. If the Jets tire of Gates eating their lunch in the coverage gaps, or if Sproles represents such a screen danger that defenders stay at home near the line, then Rivers will have a little bit more time. That brings us back to Vincent Jackson’s extra power and weight. It is not that Jackson is a better receiver than Andre Johnson, it is that he has the double advantage of being able to get through the chuck zone faster, and has a cool-headed Rivers with a little more time to let Jackson do his thing.
I have admittedly not seen a heck of a lot from VJ, but I find it VERY hard to believe he's more physical than Andre Johnson.
Revis holds receivers at the line thats true but he doesnt all the time. People get by him quickly and thats when his best skill imo is the way he can go from back peddeling and turn his hips and start running with the receiver. He glues himself to the receiver so whether or not jackson can out muscle him doesnt mean he can lose him.
Very true, and my biggest worry. Our secondary has be to tight like virgin in coverage on Sunday A couple of INTs would really help...

Ummm...No. That's totally inaccurate. Revis' footwork enables him to gain superior POSITION on every route the guy he covers runs. He's not a Jam corner..He Can, but thats not his game. He uses quickness and fluidity to sit on top of the receiver according to the route, and when he can, he gets underneath for the steal.
Yeah..the wideout pushes off, arms extended, and thats illegal contact, defense....sheesh. though..physicality plays against the Chargers wideouts in this matchup
