http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/100115/two I was really happy he didn't pick us last week and thought all his picks were off and lo and behold, I was right. I don't like that he picked us. Never a good sign.
(Insert sound of thousands of Jets fans screaming, "Nooooooooooooo! He picked us! KISS OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!" Well, you shouldn't have sent me so many taunting e-mails last weekend. Enjoy the Simmons stink.) The motherfucker.
People are picking the Jets because they should win this game handily. The fact that Peyton Manning and Tom Brady exist has skewed the overall view of what works in the playoffs. Philip Rivers is a very good QB, but he's no Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Defense and the ability to run the ball is what is important in the playoffs if you don't have an all-time QB leading your offense.
The guy went 0-4 last week. How he has a job picking anything is beyond me. You could've just flipped a coin last week to pick the games, and you'd have 15 of 16 flips that do better than simmons.
We always seem to do well when no one thinks we're any good (3-0 start) then flop when people start believing (1-6 stretch). We went 5-1 down the stretch with everyone telling us we suck and don't deserve the playoffs. Then we waxed Cincy in their house. Now the bandwagon is filling up again. Here we go.
I know, it makes you worry a little. As long as it's a good game and bad calls don't make the outcome of this game, I would be happy. Especially if we win.
Carl knows his shit and is one of the most astute guys in the media. I like that he picked us. Always look forward to his observations.
I've had this strange feeling all week that the fat prick will pick us. His opening yesterday was uber-dramatic and complimentary of the Jets at the same time. fuck.
Then why are most people picking the Chargers? The chances of the Jets winning handily is very unlikely. As is the chance of the Chargers winning handily. The game will be close.
That's why I don't get the people here who complain the Jets don't get enough respect. Whenever they get alot of respect, it usually precedes a fall. Well, I think most of the talking heads are still picking the Chargers.
