It's a dead horse, but maybe not.

do people seriously think vincent jackson is a better receiver or more physically imposing/athletic than Andre Johnson... and that revis can't stop him? i've seen it from charger fans and certain so called "analysts"

Andre Johnson is a gazelle and a bull mixed in 1. he makes some of the most insane catches in double/triple coverage and i've seen him run over 3 different cardinals after a catch to get a touchdown.

    best receivers in the game.

-fitzgerald, andre johnson, and reggie wayne. not in any particular order. revis has covered 2 and completely took johnson out of the game

    Revis covered all three.

Revis was on Boldin most of the game though when they played last year.

BTW, VJ can jump over Andre Johnson, the Empire State Building, and Rex Ryan laying down... all at once. Quite the talent that man is.

Guys, can we let this argument go...please.

No, VJ will likely do no more than anyone else has done against Revis. We will have to find out though.

Yes AJ is better than VJ, but then AJ is the best reciever in the league IMO. VJ is top 5. He is very underrated at this point.

I'm sure the defensive staff are alot more worried about shutting down Gates/Floyd, because Revis has clearly shown he is capable of dealing with anyone.

Yup. What I hate is how plenty of mediots can say VJ will have a huge game against Revis, never faced anyone like him before and whatever.

Then if they are wrong, no one says anything, and if they are right, they are geniuses.

He's gotta do it another year or two before I say he's top 5, but I'd say he's definitely in the top 10 or 12 and considering he's been your guy for only two seasons, that's a big compliment IMO.
Right now you're looking at Rhodes on Gates and Sheppard on Floyd. If Rhodes can play Gates as well as he did Tony Gonzalez then that should be a good battle. If Sheppard plays the way he did against Austin Collie, then we're in big trouble. Our biggest issue, IMO, Darren Sproles, plain-and-simple. The guy is very capable or bllowing up our blitzing packages and that could bite us. Bad.

I love how all the Charger fans are acting like nobody can stop the dominant Malcolm Floyd. The guy had one TD all year, and didn't even have a 100 yard receiving game or a game with more than 4 catches with Rivers at QB. In fact, he only had one game all season with more than 65 yards. Yet all of a sudden he's this unstoppable force that the Jets won't be able to cover.

I'll give you Gates, yes, he will be a huge matchup problem for the Jets D. And I understand the height differential between Floyd and Lito Sheppard. But Floyd's height didn't allow him to dominate any CBs this year, except the last game of the season when Jackson didn't even play so Volek had no one else to throw too. Maybe he will have a big game. But the guy didn't have one big game with Rivers and Jackson in all year, so I don't see it.

Bwahahahaha! Why do these guys think Floyd is some type of secret weapon here? Because he's 6'5"? Because Lito Sheppard has never covered anyone tall while playing in the NFC East? 45rec/776yds/1TD. Your giant possession receiver does not scare anyone.
    EDIT: Also, this:
    Gates gives me nightmares.

I'm waiting for the delayed screen when the Jets send 7 and sproles hits a 50 yard gain or even a TD.

The Chargers receiver's are some of the best route runners out there.

They're just also tall and quick.

But don't worry, I'm sure you'll shut down all our options, because you have the #1 rated defense, right?

Sigh...if only it were that simple...betting would be a cinch.

    did you miss this?

    its in the same thread.

http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1556228&postcount=5 How about my prediction - 26-21 chargers? maybe that will put a smile on your face.

perhaps it went over your head the way Jackson jumps over people?

thing to learn on TGG - I'm right almost all the time. When i'm wrong, it benefits the Jets.

You want to make predictions, Mick?

    Vincent Jackson - 4 rec, 50 yds
    Malcom Floyd - 2 rec, 20 yds.
Antonio Gates - 6 rec, 158 yds, td
    Darren Sproles - 8 recs, 70 yds

    Darelle Revis - 3 recs, 65 yds, 2tds.

I can completely see why people think this about Floyd. But you have to realise he is competing with Jackson and Gates for receptions and yards here. Also, he wasn't a starter til week 7 when we released Chris Chambers. He only started 9 games this season. And he still had 776 yards, with a 17.2 average yards per catch (3rd in NFL)

In week 17, we rested Jackson and Floyd was our No. 1 reciever in that game. He had 9 catches for 140 yards.

He is honestly very good. Him vs. Lito will be great to watch.

    Floyd? Heard of Lito?

Gates? I'll give you that one.

Too bad Pace, Harris and Bart won't let Rivers pass.

So basically, you take out that one meaningless game and you have Floyd at 636 yards in 15 games. Im impressed.

Oh on, I have disrespected the all-mighty Gates. Now he will smite me in my sleep with his ineffable wrath.
