kris jenkins on outside the lines ESPN EDIT: Interview just ended From what i heard he basically said the ability of the team to rally and fill holes from injury is what makes a complete team, and this team has something special, he's looking forward to returning to play next year
I was just watching it. Interesting take on manginini. Not surprising at all, but he basically alluded to players last year rebelling to him. Jenkins himself seemed good, proud of his team (especially Green, Devito), said he was a little worried about his job. But has no need to worry he's a beast. Yesterday, he was on some other ESPN thing and they showed him swatting the Texans Offensive linemen outta the way again. He's a beastI can't wait for him to come back.
As bad as this sounds in the long run the Jenkins injury may have been the best thing that could happen to this defense. With Jenkins in there demanding so much respect it really had a ripple effect on the team where all 10 other players had a much larger margin for error in their play. With jenks out everyone was forced to focus and raise their level of play to make up for that lost margin of error. Obviously the proof is in the pudding that they did so (#1 overall defense) and its scary to think what the defense will be able to accomplish once Jenks is back next year and when we (hopefully) have a much more developed offense that can stay on the field longer and keep the defense fresh. If you look at the young players we have, with rookies all over the place and brand new defensive system, and arguably 2 of our best players on boths sides of the ball out for the year and we have the chance to go to the AFC championship game THIS year. Really pretty amazing. But we cant take anything for granted. Lets get that lombardi trophy NOW!!!!
Jenkins has been all over ESPN the last two days. NFL Live, and ESPN News yesterday. Great to see him around! He said he'll be there sunday!!
He said mangini is militaristic and he is not surprised that things went the way they went in Cleveland. The players aren't used to his style and they don't like the way he treats them, so they have a tendency to rebel.
he's not as good an interview as he is a NT. but if he comes back in good shape next year, this team will chance being lights out.
Yes I loved when he told Stink that this game is not like rocket science which is what you are making it. He said we have to wear down there OL which is the way to get to Rivers. Just keep clawing & come at them. I thought that he was terrific in calling Stink out & saying you are make huge mountains out of small mole hills
