I don't think that's what they say. You can't look at segments like Jets are #1 rushing, Chargers are #5 passing so it's a wash, since obviously those are just components of total offense. That's not even going into the follies of using raw stats in a 16 game season, which often lead you astray more than help you. That's why football outsiders and their method is so awesome.

They have the Bolts as the #1 weighted offense, #20 weighted defense. Jets as the #24 weighted offense, and the #1 weighted defense(and by a wide margin too)

One of the things that drives me crazy about what Francesa and others claim is that the Jets don't have a dominating defense because they don't compare with the 85 Bears, the 2000 Ravens, and so forth. But when you compare them with the average NFL team THIS year, they are about 26% better than the average defense, and that's all that matters. If that's not dominant I don't know what is.

Is LT going to get mad if we dance on the midfield helmet?

So the Wheels fell off of the Saints?

Look no one is saying Rivers isn't a stud, you'd be a dik to say otherwise but dude....
Don't hate on Brees. I know there are some sour grapes there but they guy is a fukin baller!

Actually, for the most most Charger fans feel good about Brees. He was a great player for us, and if he hadn't been injured may have continued to be our QB. But Rivers provided a phenomenal success over the past few years, and more importantly, solidified his leadership status in our loss at the AFCC in NE in 2007-08 playing hurt.

Frankly, the Saints and the Chargers are not easy to compare. Brees doesn't have the LA Lakers - south basketball team receivers like Gates, V-Jack and Floyd, all 6-5 with vertical leaps well over 10 feet. And his stats have been a bit better than Rivers' stats. But frankly, that type of comparison is pointless. It only matters if they meet in the Super Bowl, but we have to get by Sanchez / Revis, and either Flacco or Manning.

Nothing is easy, especially with the Jets coming.

    Nice post.
    ftr, I wasn't comparing the 2.
I was just commenting on the hate the other poster was feeling towards Brees but you say you guys still like him...

Kinda hard to decipher which to believe.

That would have been a hell of a 1-2 punch: Rivers and Brees. Absolutely unmanageable though.

Instead we have the fearsome, the one and only Billy Volek (who's not half bad, really).

Ah, you are the one who is hard to decipher. For some reason, you took this quote by one of our fans...

...and somehow equated that to "hate." That doesn't follow.

BBF was making an objective, factual statement about a team that peaked early, but have shown troubling signs in three straight games. Brees, the QB is actually not the single factor of their decline, as they had failed in all three phases (offense, defense, ST). But that does NOT equate to "hate" of a player simply because his team is faltering.

He called Brees a frontrunner and safe to say discredited him as a "warrior" since he said Rivers was the "warrior"...

Honestly, That means he likes Brees?
C'mon. Seriously. I think we can easily put 2&2 together there

Sounds like Jealousy to me or a little sour grapes but ok, maybe HATE is a strong word...

How's Butthurt? Yeah...I think that fits what he said ...

nice stats and charts, but they are far from in trouble.

I will say they might regret winning a week off. They were playing awesome and the rest could throw off the chemistry.

The Jets ran the ball 607 times, which is why they had so many rushing yards. What they are is the team that rushed the most. The Cowboys and the Titans, to name just two, both have a better running game than the jets. The Chargers beat both the Cowboys and the Titans. The Jets ran a lot this year because they have a rookie QB who had an average QB rating of 63. He had 20 INTs, even though he was 25th in passing attempts. Rivers' worst QB rating in any game this year was 84.5, and he only had 9 INTs. If the Jets blitz, they're screwed, because no QB in the league was better than Rivers was when teams rushed more than 4 players

that is an EPIC FAIL by you!

    EPIC!!!

How many times have I said it already.
You guys try and twist stats and numbers to make a point.

Listen we can say the same thing about the Chargers and their offensive stats, the only reason why Rivers is so good is because he plays in a weak division, so he can inflate his stats.

However you failed to mention that 2 of the 3 games that you did lose were to Pitt and Baltimore, teams with good running games and good defenses. Which is the same style of play the Jets use.

I do agree with the comment posted by NYjetsrule, there seems to be a lot of overconfidence with fans of both teams, I don't expect to see GB and Arizona again, I do think this game will be very close, unless there are turnovers. I feel the game can be lopsided if either team commits more than 2 TO.

I looked at the stats the OP posted. I don't get how they favor us? We score so few points teams don't have to do nearly as much on O to beat us. Our entire stradegy of taking the air out of the ball has a lot to do with the Offensive production of other teams. What SD does is score tons of points without winning TOP which means they are very efficient at scoring points.

In a QB driven league the Chargers clearly have the advantage in this game. If we can run and score on them early we have a shot to contain them. If we run the ball all day like we did against allot of teams this year and don't put up points behind it, this game could be a blowout.

Ya know when it comes to this game thats pretty much it. Jets Run AND score they will be in it til the end. Jets don't score at least 10 to 13 in the first half the game could be over early.
