What do you guys think? I think its time for him to be the featured back for us.. I really dont want TJ to get angry and stop playing hard because we still need him but Greene has been really producing for us more...
I've been wondering this myself. Rex said that Jones was wearing a knee brace all last week, which could speak for why his workload was reduced, but Greene has really been great for us. The motherfucker just doesn't go down. We had no trouble with his fumbles this week, but if someone could teach him how to hold the ball high and tight like they did with Tiki Barber towards the end of his career, he could be the running back of our future.
Does it matter? Playing time hasn't been dictated by depth chart position for weeks now. Whoever is playing better will continue to play.
That is true.. hes just a rook so a little less playing time right now could be a good thing... I guess if it aint broken, dont fix it... maybe we should just keep things the way they are....its really working for us... and if Sanchez keeps going at this rate and doesnt get too cocky... I really see us being TOUGH competitors for the Bowl..
It's a series by series thing. We're going to tear through that run D anyways, might as well hand it off to tony richardson.
Jones is the starter in title only. Greene has been slowly chipping away at his playing time. I fully expect Greene to take the starting job next season, provided he doesn't cough it up in the preseason. San Deigo delenda est.
Play whoever is succeeding, which is what the Jets are doing. TJ has played great this season setting a new team TD record. He wasn't hitting the hole fast enough against the Bengals and Greene was. I think both players are pretty team oriented players, so I think there isn't a such thing as you are number 1, you are number 2. It's, you are doing well so we're going to stick with you and if we win we live for another day.
Jones starts. Because: 1) It keeps Greene hungry. There's always more of a chip on your shoulder when you're pissed about something. 2) It's a flow that has worked. Why mess with it. That said, Greene is clearly the better of the backs, with Jones' strength being his track record of holding onto the ball. Greene takes yards. Jones takes only what the OL gives him.
We're already willing to give the starting job from a proven back to Greene? Based upon what, the last game? Wow, the highs certainlhy are high, aren't they? I'm reading threads about the Chargers being overrated, and replacing Jones with Greene. Crazy. Jones is starting because he should start, and Greene comes in and plays well when asked. Why fuck with it?
Nope, we don't know if Greene is ready, and it's working well right now. Jones is still a good option and it is better for both if they split.
Not to state the obvious, but Jones will be yet another year older next year. You do not get faster as you age. Im not saying he's DONE by any stretch, and he seems like he still has a year or two of ball left in him, but it is surely time to start working in the young gun. Better to be proactive than reactive.
Be patient... you run the current workhorse for all he's worth and then you got the kid left ready to go. Greene will have his day, unlike Lamont Jordan.
i agree...play the hot hand, but i'll add i like the way 'sure hands' jones ran out the clock with the game on ice. no need for a rookie fumble that leads to heartbreaking loss on the last series of the game.
jets / bolts are have won the top slot in national programming for their game. the whole world will see revis dominate the bolts top to bottom. the only reason the nfl has waited this long to make the announcement is because revis has won it and the nfl wants a national game to pat themselves on the back with. DPOY......Revis Christ
