As you all know, if the Ravens do in fact defeat the Colts Saturday, it would mean that the Jets could host the AFC Championship game with a win against the San Diego Chargers. Now I know that there are a lot of things that would need to break the Jets way, including winning their divisional playoff game in San Diego, but could it help inspire the team at all knowing that if they win they could be home for their next game? In many ways, I think this team is primed for a BIG upset win this weekend and I just have to believe that the players would be aware of this particular scenario. What do you think? Could a potential home AFC Championship game further inspire this team to a win Sunday Night? (By the way, I can not wait to watch this team just like you all. It has sucked not being able to post as much as I used to, but I just had to get on here. I think this team has a decent chance to make something special happen.)
Could a potential home AFC Championship game further inspire this team to a win Sunday Night? Do you really need to be a wise guy?
All of the players knew by the Colts game that they controlled their own destiny for the playoffs, and I'm sure that added to their fire. So yes, it should help and good point.
what do u want us to say? no, i don't think that a potential home championship game can further inspire this team to win (??). of course it would, no need for a thread.
Like all of these motivational things, it might get them worked up for a play or 2 or 3. After that it will come down to talent, playcalling, and execution, just like always.
If Jets Win & Ravens Win Jets then will host the AFC Championship game. IF that doesn't bring a smile or goosebumps then people dont know much about what its like being a Jets fan
That is the exact scenario that I think is very comparable. I don't think it will possibly DISTRACT the Jets from the task at hand, I just think that it could really be potentially huge motivating factor for a team that really would benefit from playing at home for that game.
Please just stop. People are posting and commenting and there really is no need to put a damper on an exciting time. I have been on this website for many years now and I don't think this is a pointless thread by a long shot. C'mon man...lol
I hate when people say that it shouldn't take stuff to motivate professional athletes. It may not be the difference between them jogging around the whole day or leaving their body on the field. It could just add to the initial adrenaline that could lead to an early score. Early scores set the momentum for the game. Motivation helps on any level, they may be professionals but still have emotions. (not including Gholston)
that definitely gives me goosebumps the thought of a freezing cold night game at the meadowlands for the AFC title with our jets just gives me a high I feel like I would wanna fly to new york from miami just to see that
fair enough, but i do have a point i would like to make, i believe the jets have proven that it doesnt matter where they play
If it has to come down to that to spur the Jets to victory on Sunday, they are doomed. San Diego delenda est.
Not to burst anyone bubble, but just to have 18 weeks of Jets football this year was more then I could have ever invisioned for this season in Aug. I know many here were thinking 8-8 would be a very good beginning for this rookie coach and QB. So while I would love them to win in SD I must keep my feet on the ground and stay focus and understand what has been done already is a wonderful acomplishment. I will be thrilled for another week after SD, yet should that not be the case, I will be broken hearted till Monday morning and then I will become very excited for the up coming season. For you see "wait till next year" will really have some meaning this time around. From the draft to the OTA's and the mini camps and them on to training camp it going to be a whole bunch of fun.... So bring on the Chargers we have nothing to lose and the Jets will give them a game and if it's supposed to be then so be it, if it is not, then I will be just as thrilled a few hours later with much hope and promise for the future....
