Fist of all, what a game! I wasn't on the forums to watch, I was at a friends house. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Now, to the point of this thread. Was I the only one that did not feel nervous as they watched the game? Usually I am everytime with this team, but today just felt different. I don't know what came of me, I just wasn't nervous. I was confident. It was possible to beat the Bengals, I knew that coming in. And guess what, it was done.
No... I wasn't even when Cinci was driving I had no fear. This is not the SOJ... they are dead!!! Now if we can get rid of the SOJ fans.
I was definitely nervous before 21-7, but after Benson's run I was surprisingly confident the team would hold on.
When the Bengals had a great opening kickoff return, I was like "Not again...". We got the fumble recovery from Coles, and I thought "You're God damn right!, not again!" Honestly though, the whole not being nervous thing probably stemmed from saying all week that this Bengals team, even with all their starters back, were beatable.
After we responded on the Benson long run with the FG, I was fairly confident in our D ending the game
While I don't believe in the SOJ, I have to admit 40+ years of watching this team does take its toll. So maybe you can chalk it up to that and to some "same old me," but my heart was beating a mile a minute from the time the Jets took a 14-7 lead until the 4th down sack with 2 minutes left. And I got pissed as hell when NBC posted that fact about the Jets having the longest streak in the NFL of protecting 14 point leads going into the 4th quarter.
I was not worried at all, even after the Benson score. I had a friend over watching the game with me and the last time he watched a Jets game with me was the 2004 playoff game against the Steelers. This time, Feely got the damn job done including two field goals that were wiped out by dumbass false start penalties while Shayne Graham is the new Doug Brien (not that six points would have made a difference in the final score this time). There was something sweet and poetic about that to me after all these years. Sanchez had a very solid game and this team goes as he goes. I recall seeing that same stat that JWWS mentioned above about the Jets and their record when leading by 14 going into the fourth quarter, as well as the stat about 96% or so of playoff teams win when they are +2 in turnover margin. I don't believe in jinxes (except for the one about basketball players on a consecutive free throw streak when an announcer mentions it). This isn't the SOJ. I think I believed for good when Revis got that pick.
After the opening kickoff I said "Don't you fucking dare be too scared to win this game" But they really did outplay the Bengals all game, but some drops didn't help.
I was a bit nervous There were times I was nervous, especially toward the end of the 4th quarter when the Jets couldn't seem to hold the ball long enough to run the clock down.
I was nervous when Feely made those two field goals that got called off due to holding and false start. We're going to lose by 3 points is all I was thinking at that point.
I was nervously optimistic. I waited until after the game to eat, I didn't want to move. After the second sack, it was like a huge weight was lifted off.
I was a bit nervous in the beginning but after the first TD, the only things that raised my heart level were the plays that the Jets were making. The Jets shut the Bengals down today. Rich, I'm right there with you as far as getting rid of the SOJFs.
I was nervous when we left 10 points on the field. That almost always causes a loss in the playoffs. (Im referring to Edwards drop and the FG penalties). I was confident we would win when we went up 2 scores.
Yeh, every time I see one of those I recall the one they flashed up in 2005 about Bill Parcells being 77-0 when leading by 13+ in 4th quarter.......before Santana Moss scored two long range TDs for Washington in the space of three mins to win the game 14-13!hmy:
