Now THERE'S a big stretch. You? Stop posting for 3 and a half months? That's absolutely shocking! Let's look at the facts: - You've been a member since 2004 and yet you're still a Bench Warmer. - Your last post before creating this thread today was in September. You took the opportunity then to let everyone know that they were getting way too excited about the team's 2 - 0 start as we resolutely marched toward a loss to the Titans (according to you). - Prior to that gem, your last post was in December of last year when you let us know: Are you sure you haven't started slipping towards one of the other 10? Go ahead, be honest. Is the confidence bugging you because you've got that nagging feeling that the Bengals are becoming the underdogs and pawing at your heart strings? It's ok. Embrace the orange. We won't judge.
Sure we could lose. The Bengals have a good D a good running game and a very talented, experienced QB. They are also playing at home and we embarrased them last week. They no doubt will have a chip on their shoulder this week. The Jets have a few things going for them in this game. We can shut down their WR man to man which gives us a great chance to shut down their running game. Greene is finally showing up and our running game is much more effective now that we don't have a huge number of negative offensive plays and can push the pile in short yardage situations. This will open opportunitites for Jones and Smith for some big plays and allow the play action to be much more effective. We have a great shot to win this week. Winning is never guaranteed and there is a difference in objectively looking at your team over the course of a season and being optimistic for the next game. The Bengals have the advantage at QB. We have allot of match up advantages. It comes down to playing a clean game on O and specials.
You say that, but when you look at the combined stats of the QBs in games against the Jets that QB is worse than Sanchez, by some way, and is partly made up of Brady, Manning and Brees.
1.) Well...since there is a 50% chance of that happening...I cant see how anyone would be "surprised". 2.) Is this you Mike Fatcessa?
Yes we did contain Brady once when he clearly was rusty and no Welker. We played against Manning and Palmer in meaningless games and Manning had multiple opportunities to gash us with recievers wide open down field. Palmer had about 6 balls dropped early before the Bengals essentially laid down. Here are some of the other great QB's we faced: Kerry Collins: 0 and 7 before he was benched Ryan Fitpatrick/Trent Edwards Jamarcus Russell who got benched for Bruce Gradkaski David Garrard Jake Delhomme:Benched Josh Freeman: Rookie Chad Henne: Very good young QB in his first year starting after comming off the bench. Don't forget David Garrard, Chad Henne and Matt Ryan lead game winning drives right down the field on our D when we had the lead in the 4th quarter. We have a very good D and in the cold and wind that coupled with our superior OL should give us some tremendous match up advantages. I still take Carson Palmer against our D over Sanchez against their D every day. I like are chances but keep it real.
