I guess that should read "Josh Cribbs' agent demanding a trade?", but in any case it looks like Holmgren's got a situation on his hands already. This is something that will probably work itself out in the end but it probably bears watching for now. That offer is way too low for the best player on your team.

    A few thoughts:

-$1.4 mil/year is way too low.

-I can't blame Cribbs for wanting to leave, but on the other hand, he'd be smart to stick around for Holmgren.

    He's right. That is insulting.

Cribbs won games and sold seats for that team.

He deserves Devin Hester money, at least.

I don't know why teams are so blind to this type of common sense.

    1. Agreed

    2. Holmgren isn't coaching, he's the GM. All Cribbs needs to care about with Holmgren is how much money Holmgren can get him. Right Holmgren is not giving Cribbs a reason to stick around. Cribbs can do this for more, better teams than the Browns who will pay him more than the Browns.

EXACTLY!...and Hester started out as a D-back. At least Cribbs is already trained as an offensive player.

Because common sense and contract negoations ahve nothing to do with each other. See Chris Baker parking his bently in the NY Jets Presidents spot while asking for more money as a prime example.

So will about about 150 other players.

If you are suggesting the Jets, wouldn't he be in the same role as Washington?

    Not needed on the Jets-

We have enough special teamers, and as a receiver/rusher we don't need him either.

I'm sure someone will take him obviously.

If Cribbs is available at 2.5 million per year, hell yea, sign the guy.

If I know Eric Mangini, we can get him straight up for Brad Smith.

I know he's not coaching but I think he's capable of building a good team, and Cribbs should want to stick around for that.

Would you stick around your job while knowing some place else you could earn 1.5 million dollars a year more?

That will probably be the difference maker, especially if he can go to a team that's already a winner and get paid more.

You can never have enough talent....but i'm pretty sure Cribbs won't sign on the cheap. So unless we release Leon and B.Smith....and he lowers his contract demands....I don't see Cribbs being an option for the gang green.

We don't have a need for him with Leon and Brad, unless 1 or both of them go

He got his GM duties pulled in Seattle for a reason. As for Cleveland, he's already fucking up the job. Cribbs is the most talented player on that roster and is worth far more than the shitty deal they are offering him. If I am Josh Cribbs. I am looking at this abortion of a cost-benefit analysis and packing my bags.

EDIT: And I doubt this is helping anything:http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=1537974&postcount=61
As I recall, Mangini was one of the key figures denying Cribs a new contract this past offseason.

A Mangini player saying they were promised more money and not getting it? Surprising

For some reason, I feel like Cribbs will end up in Miami.

Can you imagine him in the wildcat down there with White lined up as the WR or vice versa?

    /Puts gun in mouth.
