One thing the Bengals can't gameplan is for winning the war in the trenches. With one of there DTs already ruled out (Sims, part of their dline rotation), I can see the Jets once again just flat out trying to overpower the dline. You cannot gameplan when you simply put man on man and get overrun. Let's hope this is the case on Sunday.
Hems, it is on Saturday; we don't want it to happen this Sunday. But, agreed, I see our lines dominating Cincy on both sides. It may be give and take in the first quarter, but I believe we will eventually take total charge.
Sims will be out but Peko will be back in as well as Geathers. Those two sat last week while we ran all over them. I expect it will be more difficult to run this week.
I don't think we score as easily this time. And I think with Benson back, the Bengals will put some points up because the running game might open up the pass a little. Benson isn't exactly Walter Payton, but he's better than what they had out there last week. I think we should still win, but it will be much closer than the last game. I don't think Sanchez gets out of there without a turnover, because he's going to have to pass a little more this time.
I'm thinking the kittens will put everybody including the waterboy on the dline to try and stop our run game. We might see the first "10 in the box", non-punt formation ever.. The downside of that defense is when Greene or Jones breaks the front wall. Then its lights out baby. Not to mention quick 3-step drops coupled with slants. Sanchez might be able to pick that defense apart IF Schotty doesn't get too cute..
Mark seems to get it there quick on these types of routes too. A couple of these plays early will not only loosen up their defense, but should result in some nice YAC.
I think we'll just use the same game plan as the previous week. Our offensive line has the been a big strength of our team the past 2 seasons
Parcells said it simply - "Power wins football games". The Jets should do exactly the same thing to the Bengals again. It won't result in a 37-0 victory but they must not panic and abandon the running game if it is stopped early. Have patience, grind them down and win it in the second half. I just hope someone tells Schottenheimer that he doesn't have to win this game in the first quarter. If he tries to get cute with Sanchez things could get out of kilter.
As long as he's now throwing into double coverage those slant routes do seem to be the best ball MS delivers. He can fire them in. So if we're facing 8 in the box, and BE or JC can break a tackle we could see a couple 5-10 yrd passes resulting in big plays.
Every time he rolls out near the sideline, I just want him to throw it away. Those quick drop slants seem to work well though. Oddly enough, it seems he has fairly good success with the really deep ball too. Most of his INTs seem to be 10-20 yd passes to the middle of the field.
