How did we get so LUCKY? Theismann warning: He?s back, but for just one game December 7, 2009 at 1:01 pm by Pete Dougherty, Staff writer NBC announced today that Joe Theismann, the excessive wordsmith among NFL analysts, will join former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs on the network?s early wild-card playoff game on Saturday, Jan. 9. Reliable play-by-play Tom Hammond will head the crew and try to keep Theismann from overstating the obvious. Theismann, bounced from ESPN?s telecasts when the network got the Monday Night football package, currently does studio analysis for NFL Network. The Sunday Night Football tandem of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will work the prime-time wildcard game. Collinsworth did the analysis last year when John Madden was working with Michaels. http://blog.timesunion.com/sportsmedia/nfl-playoff-matchups-almost-set-but-times-arent/3370/
Why is it that everyone hates the Jets? Is there anyone in the media that likes the Jets? According to all of you guys there isn't. I think Theismann does a good job personally.
I don't think Theismann hates the Jets. I think he pretty much loves any team he is talking about at the moment, even if it makes zero sense. That's his MO - shameless sucking of whatever hind tit is available. Plus, he's an annoying jerkoff. I hate him.
Theismann always goes against the Jets on playbook. Same when he was on MNF. I don't even come close to understanding why but he does.
to be honest....this really isn't a big deal. I mean, I hate Theismann.....but if the Giants hire Bob Sutton....nothing will ruin this day.
Three worst commentators: 1) Joe Theismann-loves to hear himself talk. 2) Dan Dierdoff- I don't know where he is coming from half the time. 3) Solomon Wilcox- same statement for Dan Dierdoff. Three best: 1) Al Michaels 2) Phil Simms 3) Chris Collinsworth-Especially after his comment regarding the Jets Oline, "this is the best OL that I have seen in the NFL this year" Just my opinion.
Theismann - always wrong about everything. On draft day, he loved the Kyle Brady pick, saying he would be a perennial Pro Bowler. Wrong.
I agree with this. Dierdorf needs to fall off a cliff in the worst way......he's actually worse than Theismann, IMO.
Joe Gibbs is going to be great to listen to. Both teams play the kind of smashmouth running offense that he ran for more than a decade in Washington the first time around. Both have very good backs and a strong offensive line. Both have good run defenses. He's going to be watching his kind of game and I hope he clues us in to what he sees, because that will be a real treat.
I actually tend to agree. He has a terrible reputation but i always thought he did a good job when he used to call the Sunday night ESPN games with Paul Mcguire back in the day.
