I wish i could be there tomorrow..... I'd probably come in on a Ton-Ton.....that way...if i get cold, I can just cut it open and lie in it till half time.
I was in Campmor, the camping supply store in Paramus today and ran into two other people buying thick hiking socks for the Jets game tomorrow. I'm going with two sets of thermals (2 tops, 2 bottoms) Jeans, a fleece top, and Jersey. That should keep me warm without being all bulky like Randy in A Christmas Story. I'm also wearing a fleece neckwarmer, winter hat, gloves and hiking boots over thick mountaineering socks.
i got my wigwam merino wool socks there, there rule. did you get the liners also, they wick sweat away from your feet and keep you dry.
Damn - It's like a fashion show in here. Just dress warm. No one cares what you wear unless it's a jersey for the other team. If you get cold, just get rowdy and yell loud. Preferabaly take the gloves off and clap when necessary. You can always put the gloves back on. And have fun. I know I will.
Coldest game you can remember? What was it? I remember a Saturday game against Buffalo in December, early '90's when it was single digits. Our smuggled in Buds froze on us. The playoff win against the Colts was pretty chilly, and the game against the Bears in '85 was nippy, but this might be a top 5 for coldness in the past 25 or 30 years. Anyone have a good memory? What COLD games do you recall?
its a vague memory but i was really young and my dad made us leave because he was afraid i was gonna get sick, and that i was saying i didnt want to leave cuz i thought hed get mad at me, which at the time was probably true. mustve been somewhere in the '91- '93 and it was vs the colts.
Well, they had December games against the Colts in both 92 and 93. Both horrendous losses. On 12/13/92 they lost to the Colts 10-6, and on 12/5/93 they lost at home to them 9-6. I believe the 9-6 game was in the rain. I remember being miserable for both of these. In these years there were many many pathetic Jets/Colts games to choose from. Wish my memory was as vague as yours ; )
For some reason Jets-Rams from 1986 stands out. It was the Sunday after the Monday night loss in Miami, Jets came in 10-2, were just stale against the Rams and lost. Maybe it was me but that's as cold as I ever remember being at a Jet game and I think it was November. I'm thinking of going shirtless to this one--you know, get on TV, maybe land one of the Flight Crew.
Scored free 50yd Luxury Box Sets for this one...my normal sec. 108 will have someone else's freezing ass sitting (standing) in them. Still will be cold up in the hotel-like room, but still...
Coldest game I can remember attending was Dec 68 @ Shea in the PO game vs Oak when my friend & I went thru 2 thermos of hot cocoa. Since I never emptied the thermos again I have to give that game the honors for coldness & rawness
One of the coldest games I've been to was on 1/10/2004. The Patriots defeated Tennessee in the 1st round of the playoffs with a wind chill at Gillette Stadium of -35F. In comparison, today at Giants Stadium will be a warm day. Your best bet to keep warm today is not liquor but layers of clothing, making specifically sure that your head is covered and your feet are warm and dry. If you are tailgating before the game, change into a dry set of socks before entering the stadium. Standing there in cold sweaty feet will keep you very uncomfortable throughout the game. If you do get cold, run in place at your seats to get the circulation working throughout your body, but most particularly in your feet. It will help.
