First, what an awesome game last night.

    Freddie Barnes stole the show.

    Iupati wasn't a slotch!!!

I really watched Iupati on every one of Idaho's snaps and he is such a force. He dominates his position and hustles on every snap. I noticed Iupati blocking downfield and taking on multiple defenders...it all looked effortless and easy.

I love his attitude and excitement for the game, you can tell he loves football.

ESPN really featured Iupati and showed alot of his plays., amazing for an OG.

I know it's difficult to get excited about an OG, but Iupati looks to be one of the best in years. Iupati will be a lock to be a late 1st Rd selection, maybe right in the area of the Jets.

Depending on who is available when we are OTC, Iupati could be the best available player. I'm not saying it's a lock we draft Iupati, but you can't go wrong drafting a OG with pro-bowl potential to protect Sanchez.

I've got no problem fortifying our oline....this guy sounds like an excellent replacement for Faneca....if he's there, and the Jets take him....I'll cheer the pick.

Yea MB! It wouldn't be a popular pick (especially from the uninformed Jet Fan), but Iupati between Dbrick and Mangold would be an immovable wall.

I think Iupati could become better than Ben Grubbs/Steve Hutchinson and be a pernianal pro-bowler. Let's face reality, Faneca shouldn't have made the pro-bowl, he made it on his past accomplishments.

If a really good defensive player is available....I may think twice drafting Iupati. Iupati should be on Tanny's short list in late rd 1.

The main problem, most GMs don't want to pay OGs big bucks.

Mount Cody is still tops on my wish list (he probably won't be there when we're on the clock).....as the Dline is more of an issue in my opinion.

But fortifying the oline at some point in the draft....whether it's the first round or in the later rounds...is a good idea too, IMO.

MB's order of draft importance: NT/DE, Secondary, OL, Wideout. :)

since this is the first draft that can allow the jets to stay where they are and take who comes to them. If its a DE or Iupati I'll take it.

Feels pretty good...the waiting will suck though.

I want Mike Iupati or Anthony Davis in the first round. I have a feeling one of the two will be BPA when our pick comes around.

If Iupati tears up the combine, he could fly up boards as a tackle prospect.

Nothing wrong with upgrading the offensive line, especially with an aging LG and RT... If he can swing out to RT as well, then this would be a slam dunk..

Sione Pouha has played well enough to make me believe this team can hold off on a NT. So offensive line would be one of the top areas to address in round one.

Absolutely, building a young, strong o-line must be a priority for Tanny in the 1-2 next years. With every other spot on offense likely filled through the next years (except maybe WR), we could see this offense grow together into a scary unit.

In the end, it will all depend on the development of Mark. But giving him an A-plus o-line certainly won't hurt.

I watched that entire game, Iupati is a freaking animal. The ideal situation would be to trade down a few spots and if he is still available he should get serious consideration.

I could see a scenario where Cody and Dunlap are gone and its between a lineman or a corner. From what everyones saying, Iupati would be a great pick. Nothing like helping our biggest weakness which is quarterback by protecting him. Along that same line we should definitely give Sanchez another wide receiver to work with in round 2.

I don't know!! If the Jets win Sunday and than the following week, we are looking at a mid to late 20 pick. Iupati's range to be drafted.

i could definitely get behind this pick.with the play of pouha and devito the d-line is priority #2.the o-line hasn't had a 3rd round or higher draft pick in four years now.that is how depth becomes an issue.

I don't know, I feel like a first round pick is someone you should be looking to plug in from day one, and I feel like we're so close to being a complete team that drafting for depth isn't a valid strategy. Faneca isn't done just yet, and we don't need a potential pro bowler riding the bench. I'd be fine with a 2nd round OL pick, but to me, the need for an edge rusher or even a nosetackle outweighs that for a guard.

I don't understand why the best guard to come out in years isn't a higher pick then "late first round."

The commentary from 1:45 on is pretty spot-on.

He's a guard, it's the same with centers, Mangold was one of the best center prospects ever and lasted until the end of the first.

i was thinking defense in the first round but after watchng that game and doing some research we could have the best left side in football, and run the ball well for years to come. Iupati for 2010
