I've been one of the biggest TJ bashers this season....and I've come to eat crow. He's played well down the stretch...and has been quite reliable when called upon. Kudos to you, Thomas Jones......keep the Green n' White express rollin'.
I understand that he led the AFC in rushing last year, I still think he wasn't playing great and is a lot, lot better this year.
I love this thread and I think we should have more like this for good players. Jets fans can be a little tough on the team and guys like Jones, Revis, Mangold, Cotchery and others deserve some praise. T.J. has been one of my favorite Jets for 2 years and he is completely under appreciated. The guy is smart and explosive and picks up the blitz well. Also, when teams have a lack of respect for our passing attack and crowd the line he still gets the job done. 2008 leading rusher in the AFC, what else can I say? We love you T.J. Guns is the man.
I appreciate TJ and his phenomenal work ethic. The way he takes care of his body, I can see him doing this for longer then the average QB. He does treat his body like a temple.
I will admit I have bashed Thomas Jones in the past. But this guy is a work horse and his value increases as the season gets longer.
I never bashed Jones, and never understood the hate for him. One thing that is great is he doesn't fumble. You can't have your running back putting the ball on the ground. Shonn Greene should take some lessons. His fumbling is a problem. Jones is perfect for the Jets, in that they're better off running it alot, and Jones gets better the more runs he gets. Just give him the damn ball.
I agree with this. But...one thing Jones needs to work on....is that he can't take nosedives after he gets contact. That's my ONLY beef with him. Other than that...he's been stellar.
I was once a basher for TJ too, but I was completely wrong, we had some great RBs play for the Jets the past decade +, Him and Curtis Martin are great RBs this franchise has had, at the end of the day when TJ retires poss as a Jet, I hope he is mentioned in the same sentence as The Great Curtis Martin (my favorite Jet of all time), if anyone deserves credit for this team's success it's him and the offensive line
I'm sure you've seen it but its just too bad ass.
Another great day for Thomas Jones. 23 carries, 105 yards, 4.6 yards per rush, 1 touchdown. Kudos to the offensive line as well... everyone and their sisters knew we were going to run, and we dominated the rushing game anyway.
Thomas Jones: 4.6 yards/carry Shonn Greene: 5.9 yards/carry Jones got a lot of his yards late in the game after Greene softened them up. I'm not saying that Jones wasn't a key member of the offense, but Greene is making a strong case for the starting job next season.
Yeah, our offensive line only really got going against the backups of Indy, and even those guys weren't going all out. I want to see if we can pick up yards against the #2 overall rush defense in Cincinnati (!), or if we'll be using the Seminole/Tiger formation more, because that worked well.
I'm more of a supporter of the situational Three Headed Monster with Leon, Jones and Greene, instead of deciding a concrete starter.
I don't care who is in the backfield, receiving the snap; It's the wildcat formation like the "shotgun" formation. Until Indy calls the shotgun the "Volunteer" and New England calls the shotgun the "Wolverine", it's the "wildcat". Plus, Osceola would have been a better name than "Seminole" anyway. Fewer gay jokes.
