If Baltimore wins, they're 8-6. We are 7-7. The point is that because we lost, we need them to lose to Pittsburgh next week in order to have a tiebreaker against them. If they lost now and we both finished 9-7, they'd get the tiebreaker because it would mean they beat Pitt. They HAVE to lose next week. This game doesn't mean much.
I was just down at the dock. They were saying something about some sort of ship sailing away. Not sure. I didn't really catch it all.
I know I'm just saying cause people seemed to be concerned about this ravens game, as if it would completely ice us or something.
Yeah Salz you are right, but stop thinking about this. The Jets ARE NOT a playoff team. The Ravens are superior. I won't say Jacksonville or Miami are even though against us they are (3-0) this year. The Titans and Texans are also (7-7) along with Pittsburgh. Its over........ And thanks for the merge SJ
People were concerned with this game because a Ravens loss and Jets win put the Jets in complete control of their playoff destiny. Of course, they blew it though and the Ravens game is worthless to Gang Green.
Future playoff scenarios much better than you think Listen, I know that no one here is thinking playoffs right now, for good reason. I was so angry after this game. I probably booed more than anyone at the game. But then I came home, went to scenario generator on Yahoo and changed 3 games: the Jets to win the next 2 weeks and the Ravens to beat the Steelers, and voila, the Jets were in the playoffs. So basically. Jets win out. Dolphins lose once (HOU, PIT) Jaguars lose once (at NE, at CLE) Ravens lose once (at PIT, at OAK) Broncos lose once (at PHI, KC)* assuming Broncos lose to Oakland. The Jets are in the playoffs. And as a 5 seed. It's still possible. Why? The Falcons loss was in the NFC, so it doesn't affect AFC tiebreakers. Common opponents have to go our way, but that's all that needs to happen for us to get into the playoffs. I haven't done it for tiebreakers for each of the individual teams yet. However, the Dolphins must lose once or we can't win a 9-7 tiebreaker, and we're out. If we could have beaten them once... If we win out.
Oh well, at the end of the day I guess we all knew the Ravens were going to be the 6th playoff team... right now they are a better team than us so I guess it's deserved. But we are in a great position for next year... let's hope we can kick some asses again!
That's pretty cool, but at the same time makes it so much more disappointing that we lost today. We're not a playoff team unless we can somehow figure out how to get our shit together for the final two games of the season. We need to win, period, and build confidence. If shit happens to fall our way (very, very unlikely), then great. I'll take the playoff experience.
If Broncos lose here they don't need all that to happen or the 6 seed, but it would get them the 5 seed. they would need 1 of 2 (balt losing once, broncos losing once) to get the 6 seed if the other shit happens)
Thanks for the positive. After that there is precious little. There's always next year...the mantra of any sports fan around the world.
