Despite the fact that he is a rookie, he's holding back the offense not only by turning over the ball, but making us pathetically predictable. Early in the game I was pissed that the O-line wasn't making bigger holes for Jones but it's abundantly clear that nobody has to honour the pass, not even the bad defenses. I expect Mark to get better, but he needs to know that even though they win and lose as a team, he has been the person who has most significantly held the team back this season. It's excruciating to watch. On the game-ending pick, Jerricho was running straight down the left hash on a streak and the only guy who would have picked him up jumped Braylon's route. That's a long TD pass if Sanchez could look at more than one fucking guy.
I wish Kellen Clemens was our starter from week one! At least then we could have had a top 5 draft pick this year.
i said from the beginning of preseason kellen should be starting but i got flamed. where da clemens hatas at???
Much of it is on Mark today. Again the play design with two receivers with in 5 yards of each other at the end of the game is FUCKING STUPID. Shotty needs to go.
I am getting tired of him telegraphing the passes personally. It seems almost every pick that he throws, he is staring down his receiver and doesn't look off the defenders.
I agree, the "rookie" excuse is BS. Ryan and Flacco didn't make these types of team-crippling mistakes down the stretch last year.
Why does every game have to be ONE person's fault? If the special teams do their job then the Jets win 16-3 and nobody gives a shit about Sanchez. If the defense finishes their job then there's no problem. It's a TEAM GAME.
THANK YOU. That last pick, Braylon and Cotchery had routes designed to cross each other. When that attempted pass got to Braylon, they were only about 3 or 4 yards apart from each other. Sanchez tries to throw into an area where that's an excess of about 4 Falcon DBs. Schotty is a fucking buffoon.
Sanchez turnovers costed us three points, we left 9 points on the field with the special teams. Our super defense has proved again that it can't make the one gamefinishing play. See Buffalo, Jacksonville and now Atlanta
Mark has 2 problems. 1) He doesn't go through his progressions and locks on to his first look. He has to find another receiver when his first look is double-covered. Or he needs to check down to the running back. When his first look is open, Mark makes excellent passes to his wide open receiver. But as we saw today, when the first look is double-covered, Mark will throw an interception. 2) He holds the ball way too long. He rolls out sometimes and makes an improvised throw, but he also misses wide open receivers that he should be hitting if he were to stay in the pocket and make an on-time throw. He needs to make better and quicker reads.
This game is on the STs, plain and simple. The last INT should never have happened, the game should have been well in the bag by then. 3 FGAs inside 40 yds and we botched each of them, that is unacceptable.
I'm pretty sure there is plenty of blame to go around. Pretty much anyone not involved with the defense.
This game is on the ST's, on Sanchez and on Schotty. How hard is it to establish the run against a defense ranked in the bottom half of the league against the run? Sanchez is a rookie QB and likely to get picked more often than he should. That's a defining characteristic of most rookie QB's that get thrown into the mix their rookie seasons: they throw a lot of picks. It's just what happens. Somewhere in here it was up to the offensive staff to not make this game about the rookie QB. It was up to them to make it about the Jet's NFL leading rushing attack. Where was that in the game plan? I hope we're seeing the last of Brian Schottenheimer in these last few games. I've hated watching the Jet's offense under his tenure and I really don't want to be watching it next season for the 5th year in a row.
Clemens still sucks. It is a learning experience and I just hope he can overcome all of his problems by week 1 of 2010.
Yup. I am starting to agree more and more with that, We know that right now Sanchez rarely checks down, so why would you ever design plays that would bring numerous defenders into the same area? It makes no sense.....you can still have a lot of plays but have simple route combinations. He's outsmarting his shaky rookie QB. Marty needs to give his son a call....too bad it's too late for this season.
Its Simple: You Cannot Throw 3 Ints In A Game And Repeatedly Fail To Get In The Endzone. When That Happens In The Nfl Your Qb Has Not Done His Job And He Gets Blamed For The Result On The Scoreboard. This Applies To Every Qb Not Just Mark Sanchez.
yea i agree all of its on the special teams. Sanchez is a rookie qb we dont need him to be spectacular we need him to do enough to win a game. Today he gave his team all the chances to win the game. A blocked field goal a missed field goal and a botched field goal all should have been good. Sanchez has blown games but this isnt one. This is game lost by special teams number 2.
