You left out New Orleans. N.O.s "Juggernaut" offense scores 10 on our D. The Offense spots them 14 more. We lose by 14. I'll give Miami the first one, 80 degrees down there, a fourth quarter meltdown is forgiveable. but 3 more wins right now...man oh man...
Its so much easier to just hope for New England to shit the bed and lose to carolina. The wild card is so completly unpredictable and complicated. But if I have to choose i would root for jax, and then hope they lose to Indy and NE, like they should. Just so u know i wish i could be like you MBgreen and not look at it but i cant help myself. I know im setting myself up for dissapointment
you can throw the Jax debacle in there too.....pick your poison. It all adds up to the same thing.....a wad of bullshit. Don't get me wrong...i'm not angry (we are sporting a rooke QB/HC combo).....just a little disappointed.
What is interesting (to me): If jax beats miami. We will be rooting for jax to beat NE in a few weeks not only to get NE a loss -- but for tiebreakers I think. I cant imagine that CAR will be NE. Oak had it in them --- Car does not.
the worst part is....all 4 were winnable games. The only game the Jets were badly outplayed in was the loss to the Pats
The loss that pissed me off the most was the 2nd MIA game. I feel like winning on return TD's is a cheap way of winning. I know it's not, but it just pisses me off. Like I was pissed when the Giants won by 7 last night after the Hixon return TD. (I hate the Giants almost as much as the Pats and Fins).
Yeah, totally agree on this one. Let em fall where they may. And I will hardly translate some abstract scenario of what ifs and other contingencies into a hope that fucking Miami wins anything. Geez, what kind of Jet fan roots for Miami to win? Ftr that loss to Jville will merely loom larger and larger if in fact the Jets continue winning, but even there let em fall as they do. It's all a pointless abstraction unless the Jets win out. Which I am still quite doubtful of. To say the least.
How would you feel about rooting for Miami to win against the Jags, and then watcht them win, with the Jets winning this weekend, then the Jets lose next weekend and eventually Miami goes to the playoffs while the Jets go on vacation? I would NEVER go there...
the point is hoping for a scenario where the Jets have the best chance of controlling their own destiny...isn't that why people are pissed off about the bad losses to begin with? so, if you are angry about that you can't be opposed to other teams losing which would then create the scenario you are angry we don't have -- controlling our own destiny, that if we win we will be in. and the best case scenario for that happening within the next few weeks starts with Miami beating Jacksonville. I don't know how anyone would hate the Dolphins so much they'd rather see them lose and hurt the Jets playoffs chances rather than win and improve the Jets playoff chances. that seems more ridiculous to me. let me introduce my nose to this knife, that will teach my face a lesson.
Best scenario is obviously a tie. Combined with a Jets win, gives us everything we want: - 1/2 game ahead of Miami. This is the same as being 1 ahead since they have the tie-breaker. - 1/2 game behind Jax. This is the same as being tied since they have the tie-breaker. Of course, there hasn't been a tie in the league this year, so this is highly unlikely, but still something to root for. I say hope for a 7-7 tie at the end of regulation with both defenses playing well.
that's a total pipe dream, JB. The Jets WON'T control their own destiny.....not at 6-6.....which is why this thread is here to begin with.
i say jacksonville. if miami and the jets are tied, the jets lose the tiebreaker. in the event the patriots win the division, losing the tiebreaker to miami puts the team in a bad spot.
it's a long shot, but the Jets could be the 2nd Wild Card leader going into the final game is they win their games. but that starts with Jacksonville losing first and foremost. if Jacksonville doesn't lose, the Jets have zero chance of making it. that's just a fact. I don't get how a Jets fan wouldn't care whether a team that has to lose wins if it hurts the Jets.
if Jacksonville doesn't lose, the Jets miss the playoffs so the tie breaker with the Dolphins is irrelevant.
It's not that I don't care.....I just get irritated with "if the stars aligned, this will happen" threads. It's really just my opinion...I didn't mean to shit on anybody's right to speculate what could happen. I know the Jets have a shot....but we're on the outside looking in.....and like you said, we have to rely on a conference rival to "shit the bed" so we can get in....I hate getting my hopes up just to have reality destroy them.
barring a JAX, PIT, and MIA collapse the Jets have to win out to make it. Aim for the division, meaning the Pats have to pull a 2008 Jets. The Wildcard has way too many teams with tiebreakers over the Jets. The Jets best chance is having a better record than the division opponents. I'll root for JAX come next sunday.
It all depends on how real you think the Pat's swoon is. We'd need either the Pats or the Jags to lose two. Personally I think its more likely the Jags lose two, but I would PREFER that the Pats lose two and we win the division.
