Props to them for nominating Suh as a finalist. Ditto for Keenum. Tebow's presence on the list is shameful.

He certainly deserves it. McCoy will likely take home the award, though. The sad thing is, I'm starting to hate Tim Tebow, and he's by all accounts a fantastic human being.

How can you hate Tim Tebow? He deserves to be nominated for this award. He's the best player in college football.

If Suh makes a couple plays against McCoy's Longhorns and Nebraska somehow comes out on top, I don't know how he can't get the award over Colt.

Uh, because he hasn't merited the national praise he's gotten this year. He's been the best player in college football for 3 cumulative years. He wasn't the best player this year.

Well, I don't look at just stats. It's what he does for that team that impresses me the most.

If you want to bring stats into this, Tim Tebow accounted for 30 TDs while playing in the best conference in college football. I know all of his TDs didn't come against all SEC teams and they played a pretty shitty non-conference schedule, but he is still a dominant player.

Case Keenum will never get my vote for anything. He's not a game changer...he's just part of a system that's worked for years. Guys bash Tebow all the time because he plays in Meyer's offense, but that offense is built around him. He's not just a player that fits likes a puzzle piece, he's irreplaceable.

Put the ball in his hands inside the five yard line and he's going to get 6 for his team. System or not, no one stops this kid in the redzone.

    I just looked this up:

Tim Tebow's been taken out of three games early, plus the game against Kentucky where he left due to injury in the 3rd quarter.

Colt McCoy has been taken out of only two games...and it was during the last few drives of the UL-Lafayette and Baylor games. The kid's thrown the ball more 30 plus times in every game but two, because Mack Brown is inflating his stats.

I didn't say he wasn't dominant. I also didn't say that he was just the product of a system. I said he wasn't the best player this year. He hasn't had to do as much for Florida this year; he plays with a defense that has only allowed 20 points once this season (and exactly 20 points at that). If you take Tebow off of that team, I'd argue they're not as good...but they're nearly as good. That hasn't been the case throughout his time there. He hasn't meant as much to his team as he has in the past. Or are you going to tell me that another QB couldn't score 21 points a game with the surrounding cast he has on offense?

BTW, a full half of his TDs came in non-conference play.

I was wasn't saying you said any of that - a lot of people do use that against him though.

I think Johnny Brantley will be a very good quarterback when Tebow's gone, but they won't go undefeated with him. Meyer is going to have to change a lot of what he does on offense because Brantley isn't a running quarterback. Like I said, that offense is built around Tebow, so without him they might have some trouble scoring points for a while.

I could ask the same thing about Colt McCoy: You don't think another quarterback to put up big numbers in a conference known for having shitty defenses? Also, McCoy plays on a team with a very good defense. The Big 12 has three teams with good defenses: Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas - the rest suck.

Colt McCoy has 31 total TDs. Tim Tebow has 30 total TDs. I'd take Tebow over McCoy even if he had 10 less TDs.

I don't think Brantley is as good as Tebow either, although he's done well in relief of Tebow this season. Higher YPC rushing, completion percentage, and TD/INT ratio (7/0). Huge grain of salt with that one given the fact that he's generally played against lesser opponents.

That's a solid point, and a big reason why I think Tebow has been able to succeed in the SEC this year. No conference is even close when it comes to passing defense. Rush defense, however, has been another story. It's got to help a mobile QB like Tebow. Of course, he'll face the only other SEC team with a top 30 run defense in the SEC Championship. Should be a hell of a game.

Hahaha.... Welcome.... Welcome to the dark side......

But if the question is, who is THE BEST PLAYER in college football, my answer is Ndamukong Suh. If it's most valuable to his team or if it's the best player at a position of importance, then by all means hand that out to someone else, but House of Spears is the best player in the country. To hearken back a great tradition here on TGG, he would definitely deserve a 99 rating in NCAA 10.

...but would he have 99 truck, 99 agility, and 99 speed?

Only Ty Law truly deserves 99 speed. Though, Dr. Suh might have 99 throw power with the way he whipped Colt McCoy to the ground yesterday.

Someone on my facebook called tim tebow a hero because of his faith and abstinence.

On those grounds alone, fuck Tim Tebow.

You'd have to rape him. He wouldn't give himself up willingly, even with that hot piece of ass he was linked to.
