I'm not reading all these responses, I just got back from the game and all I'm gonna say is the crowd cheered when Sanchez got hurt and Clemens came in, and I was reminded again on why it's so fucking hard to root for this team sometimes.....Ridiculous.
I'm also not reading all the responses, but isn't it common and respectful to cheer for an injured player when he comes off the field, at least thats what I was taught when I was little
Well, now there's a chance that all of the Clemens lovers might not be the dumbest ones posting in this thread.
Marty Lyons and Bob W on the radio thought he intentionally ditched it because it would have resulted in a loss. I was hoping to see a couple of throws from him, but was glad to see Sanchez back. Then he got picked.
That's really surprising considering he was playing pretty well up to that point...but I guess there are classless buffoons at games no matter who your team is
I don't think it showed who was or wasn't open downfield, but if Clemens had thrown it to Richardson there would have been no gain on the play. Plus there was a defender right there closing in on him and a defender in Clemens' face, so it wasn't worth the risk. If you watch the sidelines after the play, Rex nods approvingly at Clemens and gives him the 'ok' sign.
Yes, and I had to deal with a whole lot of them. It was ridiculous to say the least, just not for the fact he's owed another 40 million for the 4 years. He's our QB of the future, and for better or for worse, this season just doesn't mean more than that, and some people don't just get that. I'd compare it to when Chad got cheered for getting hurt vs. the Pats a couple of years ago, but this means more because Sanchez is going nowhere and it seemed like a moment of utter stupidity for me.
It is disappointing to see how his career hasnt developed. I liked him a few years back because I thought he had that gunslinger mentality, like Foley. But, like Foley, he turned out to be a fraud......
Then that's a classless dick move. THey're probably the same fans that would boo Brady or Manning if they QB'ed our team
why is it that some so called "fans" feel it neccessary to trash out own guys whether its clemens or ainge or sanchez? We are all on the same team knuckleheads.
you'll have to forgive some of us.....we want to see our team succeed instead of watching them wallow in mediochrity for eternity. If that's your bag...all the power to you.....but don't criticize the people that are tired of watching shitty players like Clemens wasting roster spots on this team.
How can anyone take anything out of what they saw in Clemens? He didn't have a chance to do anything.
It's quite amusing how all the posters here who thought Clemens sucked when he played behind a crap OL with no receivers want to give Sanchez every excuse in the book. I have the feeling, call me crazy, that when Clemens threw that incomplete pass, MB's first thought was how it gave him an occasion to start this thread. When Sanchez then followed with an int, no such thread followed. Sanchez has now played more than Clemens has for this team, and many here have argued the necessity, the absolute necessity, of giving him playing time and patience to learn the game. Yet when Clemens is called in off the bench, throws a single pass that was probably a bad situation given the pass rush and the D (funny no one is blaming Schotty for the play call), all that patience and necessity of playing goes out the window. And Sanchez has thrown an int roughly once every 17 throws. Clemens was criticized mercilessly by many Jet fans for throwing so many ints. But his ratio is much better, one int for every 23.4 throws. Not great by any means, but the point remains. None of that means Clemens is or will someday be a good football player. I realize that. And while I think Clemens has never been given a fair shot by the Jets, hey, life is unfair, and it's also true he didn't force the team to start him by playing that well. It's just amusing to watch the Sanchez apologists here dump on Clemens for what appears to me to be no worse play at Qb than we have so far seen from Sanchez. And one more thing, we may see Clemens again before he leaves the team. I for one hope he does well if he gets in there, just as I hope Sanchez or whoever else is in there for the Jets does well.
besides one good quarter against the ravens two years ago clemens has never done anything. i think that is the point the MB was trying to make. people always say he has never been given a real chance, but whenever he gets any type of opportunity he doesn't do anything with it.
