I just got back from the tour. They don't take you up there since they are completely sold out. Personally, I think you can see from anywhere in the new stadium, but the uppers are definitely much higher up than the current stadium.. Hope that helps...
Those first two shots are taken from the Mezz. I'm not at all impressed with the unbelievable distance to the field, even from those "premium" seats. There is no place in the current stadium that is as far out from the field as those pics show, and that's not even from the upper deck. I can't imagine how far out the Upper corners must be. I'm afraid I don't like the new stadium at all. Way too far away from the action. I suppose the newness of it and all the amenities will impress a lot of people, but it does nothing for me. We go to the games to watch the plays live, and I'm afraid that's almost impossible now without a portable Hubble Space Telescope. There's a reason why the Uppers are off-limits and it's not because of the reason the Jets are offering. They're afraid people will take pictures of the field from up there, not to mention the need for oxygen masks. The Grand Canyon offers better views of the hikers below than this stadium offers of the playing field.
i was on the same tour as this guy....we actually walked onto the field together because no one told us where to go and we ended up just walking out onto the field and getting a nice tour by ourselves at first. that said check this link cause i think for some reason the camera he was using makes it look further than it really was. i think the pics i took look more like what it looked like in person. which is surprising cause he had a decent camera. http://www.jetnation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84294
Still not impressed. I surmised that the music was supposed to impress me too, especially if I turn up the volume. So I tried that, and it's still an obscenely immense, mostly indoor shopping space with mall-like corridors and 40'-wide, food-court vendors who will probably peddle everything from Chinese hot and spicy to Yankee World Series pennant flags. Big fucking deal. I can get that on any street corner. But I'm sure it will impress the shoe salesman from Des Moines or the Mary Kay Cosmetics Salesmaster from Toledo. Seriously. This is about watching football. Good sightlines. Close-to-the-field action. Modern stadiums are supposed to be an improvement over Shea Stadium, but I'm beginning to think my sightlines were better out at the old Shea. This is wrong, period.
The mezzanine looks like it's basically the same distance as it ws at the old place. The difference is the upper deck doesn't hang over it. Look at the shot below:
I disagree. Measure from the top left-hand corner of both fields up and to the left (as a guage). It looks to me like the last row of the Mezz corner is just about the same distance from the corner of the field as the last row of the Upper corner is in the old stadium. I'll be damned if I'd pay a PSL to place myself into what was basically (distance-from-field position), the upper deck in the old stadium.
The guy that took us on the tour said the seats are different colors to give the illusion that that the stadiums full when it's actually not. I told him winning some games would have taken care of that:up:
Sad, isn't it? They feel the need to "give the illusion" that there are fans in attendance. What's wrong with pricing it so there actually ARE fans in attendance? Maybe the Jets should find a way to "give the illusion" that we're SB contenders too. Unbelievable.
The mezz starts after about the same # of rows from the lower level in the new place and the old place. The biggest problem would be the UD setas being so high and pushed back. Lower level and mezz look even better since the field is higher off the ground than the old place. I don't think we need a new Stadium but it's too late for that now. The UD will be worse, everywhere else will be as good or better and no more blue and red seats!
$15 dollar Jets Tickets Ok, it was bad enough when we had buy a jersey get two tickets, go on a tour get two tickets, half season plains with no pre-season games etc. Now I love the Army, Navy, Airfoce Marines, but the Jets just started a milatary discount to sell remaining tickets in 2009 for $15 bucks a ticket. Wow Jets ticket prices have finally found a floor. If you sell your tickets for $14.99 you can undercut the Jet prices. Good luck re-selling Seats next year or this year!!!
I LOVE that concept stadium above. Look at how it's not spread out. The fact that there is so little real estate at that location would have been a HUGE advantage to real football fans who want to be closer to the field, because it would have forced the Jets to build it vertically instead of spreading it out all over hell to accomodate their cockamamie "five-star" bullshit. I opposed this WS stadium. In retrospect, I think I was wrong. I thought the WSS would be too expensive and the PSLs would have been through the roof. Now I regret my opinion... perhaps the PSLs and ticket prices wouldn't have been lower but at least we would have had better views for the money. The offset would have been that the stadium could have been used for many other venues and therefore other revenue-generating activities would have offset expenses. Perhaps the city would have provided relief as well and insisted on affordable pricing in order to attract more asses in the seats (and therefore more revenue for the city). It now appears partnering with the Giants was no advantage at all because Woody allowed them to bully him into leaving out an astro-roof, the one thing that would have enabled many other venues. But how could we have known things would turn out this way? We trusted Woody to make an affordable stadium by parnering with the Giants and he let us down.
