Last year he played for Gengis Mangini. That man really knows suck the life out of a football team. Did you expect anythign different going to a team like the Vikings?
I wanted to....because I'm tired of our team getting the short end of the stick when it comes to respect and winning. Seeing that old man playing as well as he has been this season.....leaves me seriously bitter about the situation. Two seasons ago....I was in the stands at the Metrodome for the Lions/Vikes game (the game where Orlovsky ran out the back of his own end zone).....the Fire Childress chants were so fucking loud, I didn't think he was gonna make out of the building in one piece. His playcalling was atrocious...kinda of the same situation we're in with Schotty. Anyway....Childress just signed an extension last week. That's the difference Favre is making out in Minny.....and that's the expectation I had when he came to NY.
Oh I agree. Remember, before his injury he was looking good and we had just beat the undefeated titans. Then the big slide. As jet fans we know all too well what happens to a season when your QB gets hurt. I jsut wish Mangini had the sack to take him out of the game with the Tron Bicep and playing as badly as he was.
I think you put your finger on the differences there. The semi-random bad luck of injury, on top of the foreign playbook & outdoor stadium & coming to a team in mid camp that you hardly know anyone on, that is (Favre has known (he worked with) Childress and Bevell for over a decade, and walked into things already having trust and undertanding established). Jets caught a bad break that he got hurt. No different than Chad's original shoulder injury. Destroyed a lotta "coulda beens." But still, let's be honest about one thing. One thing that is harder for a Packer fan to look back at 16 years and contemplate "coulda beens" than it is for a Jets fan to look back at one. Favre has this ridiculous TD/INT ratio and passing rating right now mostly because he doesn't feel like he's being asked to do it all. Just like there is no OC asking him to chuck the ball fifty times even though he's playing against a terrible run D and the OC knows he has a biceps injury, he also doesn't feel like he doesn't have to carry a certain team that wears green & gold because they have no (fill in the blank: running game, offensive line, special teams, GM with a brain and/or a wallet, etc etc). the same thing maybe Eway felt his first dozen or so years, up to '97, What the hell "coulda been" if he'd had that same feeling on a freezing winter night in Green Bay in January 2008? And perhaps many seasons before? So. yeah, I'm saying: take that feeling you got and multiply it by 10 or 15. You think it's bad for Jets fans right now? Fly in to Chicago and drive north an hour or two and tell me what you find.
Wk 12 - Bears Wk 13 - Cardinals Wk 14 - Bengals Wk 15 - Panthers Wk 16 - Bears Wk 17 - Giants Come onnnnnnnn, December collapse. Damn that dome.
Update 24tds, 3 Ints....and close to 3000 yards passing. It is like he is a different player then the Jets had here.
motivation is a powerful thing....especially when you're an elite QB. that's what it comes down to fellas....Favre was never motivated in New York....plus, he was never comfortable with Schotty's offense. Too many things went wrong for us...that are falling into place in Minnesota.
The difference is that he wants to play for the Vikings. Last year he was just trying to stick around long enough to get to the Vikings.
Different offense completely. Jones is productive, But Jones in not peterson. He has a tall big play receiver ihe can toss it up to in Rice and a Vet TE taht ahs made plays for him as well. Add in Harvin as a speedster on the out side and out of the back feild on you have a ton of different dynamics to worry about with the Vikings offense. I'm guessing he's also not playing with a torn Muscle in his throwing arm which helps.
When a player actually tries the results can be vastly different. He collected a check hoping to get to Minnesota this year to get back at those awful packers for all they did to him:rofl:
its gonna be tough...looks like Vikings/Saints are going 1/2 in the NFC, which means Domes galore for the playoffs, which works against any post-season collapse hopes...
I never could quit get it though your thick skull why Favre would do better in Green Bay or Minny than he could ever do here, but maybe if you read this then someone else will get through to you, and you won't just keep blathering on and on the same drivel about it being "attitude." that he somehow had straight in 2007 and 2009, but didn't in 2008. And maybe those that can't figure out why Favre -- who told the Packers he only wanted to be traded toa west coast offense, warm weather/indoor team -- was less enthusiastic about continuing to play for the Jets, will also finally get it, and that it was nothing against the Jets per se.
