I don't think theres any reason to think Sanchez's development will have been hampered by anything that's happened this season. That sort of reasoning only really holds up when you have a situation like David Carr, where he was getting sacked like 70 times in a season. Playing poorly doesn't hamper your development unless it gets to your head, or poisons your team mates or fans against you.

Sometimes a QB can learn a lot sitting on the bench. Sometimes they're just napping and biding their time until they get their turn. You don't really learn NFL speed until you're out there learning it the hard way.

The experience argument doesn't as much affect his week 1 performance vs. his week 10 performance as it does affect his season 1 and season 2 performance. Assuming that in either case he would have been the starting quarterback next year, everything he learns on the field this year is something he won't have to learn the hard way next year, when we'll have Jenkins and Washington back.

This past class had Matt Stafford, Josh Freeman as the top 2 QB prospects if Sanchez did not enter

This year has Jimmy Clausen, Jake Locker, Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Tony Pike as guys who could all enter the 2010 NFL Draft.

From a financial standpoint, Sanchez coming out in the 09 class was a smarter move.....because USC lost a lot of firepower and it could have led to him looking maybe worse. USC also found its answer early in Barkley so both sides won out in the end pretty much.

here's the problem though, there's no proven veteran starting QB on our roster for Mark to learn from. For example, it worked (debatable, but not in this thread) for Eli because he had Kurt Warner to show him the ropes when he was benched, and I might be for it if we had Penny still on the roster (blasphemy, I know). Mark isn't going to improve his game by watching Clemens struggle though, so I think we should just leave him in there and learn by fire (but I sure wish we had an OC that knew how to develop a QB)

I am not saying it's about who you are learning from. If KC gets in there and commits different mistakes, or the same ones, it will give Sanchez a different perspective. KC may come in there and be lights out, it's happened. It wouldn't matter if KC was great anyway, he probably won't be back next year anyway.

BALONEY !!!! Sanchez is the starting QB and last week he sucked against a medicore team and this week he sucked much worse against a good team. Last week he started the Freaking game by throwing an INT on the First Freaking play and then he failed to move the O and score a TD for the entire first half against the Jacksonville Freaking Jaguars.:rofl:

This week he was simply indefensibly atrocious.

This is a team sport, the most consistently crappy part of the Jets is the QB play. Sanchez is one of the worst QBs in the NFL right now. There is really no argument to that statistical fact. Go check it out. Blaming the defense for Sanchez's failure to professsionally and consistently execute the offense get first downs, score TDs and mainly avoid turnovers is ridiculous. Sanchez is responsible for his turnovers.

MORE BALONEY !!!! First of all he is not a "kid". Kids are usually between the ages of 4 and 14. He is not even a teenager. He is a 22 year old adult male multi-millionaire professional football player and a major celebrity and media darling. Calling him a "kid" reveals some bizarre level of affection and adoration that you obviously have for him. Unless of course he is your kid.

Second, I am not completely blaming Sanchez at all - do you know how to read einstein? or do you just automatically resort to posting moronic statements and dropping F Bombs whenever anybody talks about the fact that Sanchez played like crap today???

In case you didn't notice - This thread is about MARK SANCHEZ. Hence we are posting here about MARK SANCHEZ. If you want to start a thread about how much you think the DEFENSE sucks then you should start a thread about that. I hope that this little lesson enables you to begin to understand how a message board works.

The fact that you come here after Sanchez tosses 4 INTs to the pats and start calling him a "kid" and trying to trash the defense shows very clearly that you are a) Mark Sanchez's Dad b) Mark Sanchez's lover c)a blithering idiot who has not clue at all about football and the fact that you cannot win when your starting QB is tossing 4 INTs in a game and then fumbles another ball that he still holds onto like a loaf of bread around his waist so that he can get it easily stripped (i.e. the same dumb mistake he was making in week one of this season).

The fact that you are so bizzarely in love with this player as to think we "hate" him if we dare to even mention the irrefutable fact that he is one of the worst rated QBs in the NFL right now and that he just played one of his worst games of the season - shows how deep in the tank you are for Sanchez. If you are his Dad or his lover just say so and then I'd understand your irrational love for his performance today. Only a Dad or a lover could think he did a good job today.

I watched Sanchez throw an interception from his own half yardline today...i dont care if your playing high school of pro football you dont force throws backed up against your own endzone...

Alright, you have a valid point. But sometimes you can destroy confidence with consistently bad games. Hopefully he is mentally strong, we will definately find out in the weeks to come.

look guys as a fins fan I would love for Sanchez to fall flat on his ass, but the truth is that's he's actually playing pretty decent. He's a rookie and he's playing like a rookie, but he's ok. I hate to say this, but he's gonna get better and I see a lot of good games from him coming up againts the dolphins. I know the two games he had againts us he didn't throw a pick. Some of you need to chill and give the freaking guy a chance, he's a rookie, he's only gonna get better. your coach on the other hand needs to learn how to have some class

He is not obviosly Carson Palmer(my favorite QB) I wanted The NYJs to draft him also.
Joe Flacco(I wanten The NYJs to draft him bad)
Thats it on my list...Tom Brady, Big Ben, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning and Drew Brees were not high on my list, neither was Mark Sanchez... look at them all now some came out great right away, some took a few years, some are still not quite there yet .
    Mark will be fine........in 2012

There have been 3 games that he hasn't played well enough to win, the kid is a rookie QB. Last week he led the team back from 11 down in the 4th, the D couldn't hold the lead. This game the entire team let us down, icluding the rookie QB.

Different mistakes , I might understand, because at least Sanchez would be able to see what he was doing wrong and how other QBs address it, but how does Sanchez benefit if the Clemens in in there making the same mistakes that he's making? That would just be a glorified film session since Sanchez can always watch tape of his own games if he wants to see someone make the same mistakes...

About the end of your post though, if the coaching staff DID make the move, this would be the best thing that could happen, as we could move him for draft picks which we desperately need. But if KC came in for the rest of the season and stunk up the joint, we've lost valuable PT for Sanchez, and gained nothing in return...

Sanchez was awful today but I was thrilled to see him throw a couple of outright beautiful deep balls to bring us down the field to start the third quarter. He needs a lot of work but he shows some flashes.

The Jets aren't ready in any phase of the game to compete for a SB, it's not like the kid is holding us back from lifting a Lombardi. He's probably 2 to 3 years away which is enough time for Mangini and Ryan to build the D.
