The reporters baited him. He did damn well making it known he respects moss, didn't provide bullshit bulletin board material, but also made it clear he shut down moss that game. I hope he does the same this weekend. I also hope he returns a punt for a TD and lays the ball at the feet of belichick, just drops it right in front of him and walks away. Then i hope he intercepts a ball and takes it in for another TD and drops that next to moss. Fuck em
Haha, the dude didn't even want to ask him the question about safety help. Revis asked him to repeat the question and the guy replies, "Oh man I was hoping you weren't going to say that." It's clear they didn't know WTF they were talking about.
Let me preface this by saying I think Revis is right with Champ Bailey as the top man to man CB in the game. But I think all corners that play against a Moss, TO, or other future HOFer get help over the top. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/19/breaking-down-the-revis-moss-film-from-week-two/ Though it's rare that a defense would provide no safety help for a cornerback covering one of the top receivers in the league, the question of whether Revis operated during that game as a true shutdown/take-away-half-the-field cornerback seems to depend on whether he truly covered Moss completely on his own. And it appears that Revis didn't. A scout with access to the "all-22" film has reviewed at our request the 77 offensive snaps taken by the Patriots in that game. Under the express caveat that interpreting the film requires some subjectivity due to efforts to disguise coverage, here's what the source had to say. On seven of the plays, the Jets used "some sort of true double coverage" (i.e., two defenders assigned to Moss), with the corner being joined by a safety. For most of the other 70 plays, the source noticed consistent evidence that Revis was getting assistance behind him. "The Jets scheme typically was to have their corners be very aggressive with Moss at the line of scrimmage by jamming, rerouting, and using the sideline," the source said. "It appears that, throughout most of the game, there was a safety lingering over the top in some sort of zone. "Most of the coverages were some sort of man under with the safeties playing zone over the top. This makes it easier for the corners because they can be more physical underneath with the receivers because they realize that someone is behind them covering the deep zone passes if the receiver gets behind. This is not a true double coverage, but it is generally understood that there is a good chance that a corner will have help down the field."
You should see Florio's latest bag of shit article on profootballtalk.com It's like these fucking idiots know nothing about football. What shitbags.
After reading that article, I challenge anyone to deny that Florio lives his life with Patriot nuts in his mouth.
Jesus christ, the smallest shit this season is being emphasized. Sanchez eating a hotdog, Sanchez press conference, rhodes twitter, now whether Revis got help over the top. I wish the media would give us some stories with some more substance and less opinion/sensationalized stories.
I'm surprised (ok not really) by the blatant Jets Fanboyism taking place in this thread. The question was legitimate, Revis did get help on Moss and for some reason won't admit it. I think Revis is awesome but with his prima-donna attitude maybe he is still bitter that he doesn't have what it takes to be a Receiver. Just my .02 btw, I hate the patriots and agree that pft are on the Pats payroll.
I don't think there is any question about Revis getting help over the top, all corners get help from their safeties. That's the safety's responsibility in pretty much any defensive scheme. Revis probably gets much less safety support than the guy on the other end of the LOS from him, but he gets it. The main problem I have with this is the painstaking efforts these Patwats have put into trying to prove that he got help on some occasions.
and there it is, well said. BTW, where the hell does the idea that Revis is a prima donna come from anyway? I can't believe the regular season is relegated to what help Revis gets in the secondary. It is easy to see he is an excellent cover corner, with or without help and has been a big part in shutting down alot of elite WRs this year. This nit picking over a game that was played 7 weeks ago seems silly to me. Revis is good player, end of story.
They are trying to create something out of absolutely nothing. Revis showed nothing but respect for those guys in the beginning of the interview until they attempted to bait him into giving an answer. He patiently answered their questions and admitted that Moss was a great receiver and that he would give him props if he beat him for a touchdown. I don't get how they can make out that Revis is arrogant/prima donna either.
