I was hoping this guy was going to be more of a rock than he's showing...he starts off shooting his mouth about every division rival (which all sounded great at the time)....and now that his team's been punched in the mouth a few times...he's cutting good players, firing coaches, and .................crying? Are you fucking kidding me?

Jesus, I was hoping we were getting a smarter, more balanced Buddy Ryan in Rex Ryan. Right now, I'd settle for the father.

The plan for this week, with New England ahead, looking to put the final nail in your coffin should NOT be to point fingers and blame others...the plan should be to circle the wagons, rally the team, and put a friggin (silent) bounty out on Tom Brady's head.

That's what Buddy would be doing for Patriots Week...not crying and blaming others for his team's failures.

What good players did he cut ??? as for coaches, maybe, just maybe, he sees something that his coach didn't see, or is not addressing, or is reluctant to change ...

Ryan is either going to make it or not based on what happens over the next few games. He is facing a set of expectations that were maybe set too high, however he did a lot of the setting himself so he doesn't really have that out. The Jets hot start is also working heavily against him because it created further expectations, in line with the ones Ryan created himself with his mouth, and if those expectations are completely deflated he's going to be gone sooner rather than later.

Here's how I see it moving forward:

If the Jets win 2 out of the next 4 games, which should be doable, then Ryan has a real chance of weathering the storm and he'll be a smarter coach going into the offseason for it.

If they lose 3 out of 4 then he's on life support headed into the final 3 games of the season because a 2-11 finish is enough to get you fired in this league, especially if you work for Woody Johnson. Tannenbaum is almost certainly gone if the Jets go 1-6 at this point and Ryan is not exactly the head coach a new GM would want to start out with.

If they lose out at this point, and that's a real possibility, then everybody is gone and whatever is going to happen next happens.

Obviously if the Jets manage to beat New England this weekend that gives everybody involved a huge lifeline moving forward.

    Are you F*ing kidding!?

    A) He got rid of Carroll because he was having a non-professional behaviour. He's giving a prize to guys like Cummings and Cole who (he said it himself on various occassions) work their asses off every week. I'm all for throwing out guys who aren't committed to the team...

    B) It's the friggin first time he put toghether a CS as a HC... could it be that maybe he brought in one guy that isn't up to the task? Shit happens you know. Plus with the way our DL were tackling and pushing the other OL back (not) I can see why he got cut.

    C) When the hell was he crying? At the end of hiss press conference he said he knew that when you behaved like he did someone was going to have egg on his face and that at the moment it was him. But he was confident in his team and in himself to turn this around.
How the hell is that crying on himself?

Is Rex the perfect HC? Hell no, but like every rookie he's learning... give him a bit of time will you?

Otherwise go ride a bike blindfolded in the gran canyon instead of writing this sort of stuff...

OMG is everyone on drugs here?! Tanny has done an excellent job so far of putting this team toghether... we have a rookie HC and a rookie QB, could you please give them a couple of seasons before giving him the boot!?

Tannenbaum has not done a good job of putting a TEAM together. He's thrown a lot of Woody's money and draft picks around and assembled a collection of talented players who play significantly below the level you would expect. He's performing at a Washington Redskins level.

Want to bet who Dan Snyder's next GM is if Tannenbaum gets the boot here?

Dick Vermeil cried his way to a career with two SB apperances...one of which he won. 6 total playoff apperance and a lifetime record of 120-109. If thats what crying gets Rex sign me up now. He went 4-10, 5-9, 9-7, and 11-5 before getting his team to the SB. Rex wont have the oppurtunity to do the same here. Loud mouth jerkoffs like Beningo and Carton will have their foot as his ass kicking him out of the door after his second losing season.

He got emotional and teared up when talking to his team. Big deal. Or are we taking the "men dont cry" approach?

It's lousy but familiar to be back to where I was in 2003. Telling everybody that Bradway sucked and the Jets were headed off a cliff and having everybody tell me I was drunk.

Being a Jets fan is cyclical. it's like a hellish version of the Buddhist Wheel of Life.

If crying mean the D can make a big stop in the 4th Q then I'll rub raw onions in my eye.

They way I see it, Ryan is just very passionate about the Jets. I don't see that as being a bad thing. We are going through some growing pains this year, and that is all.

    Ok let me see...

2007 Curtis Martin retired and Pennington brakes down. Succesfull darft but we go 4-12 (rebuilding year)

2008 If Favre doesn't break down we go to the playoffs... but he does so 9-7. Don't forget Favre was also Woody's decision.

2009 With a new HC and a rookie QB we miss the playoffs WOW

And in all of these years the only fucked up draft pick is Gholston (lobbied by Mangini).

The only problem I have with Tanny is that the contracts he gives out to FA are a little too big but then again up to this year who the hell wanted to come and play to a loosing organization and for Mangini?

The guy has done an EXCELLENT job! And it will show, we are a young team with lot's of talent.. when he came in we were an old team with many mediocre players.

    well played.

Rex has been around this league far too long to unravel under some adversity. I'm not worried. Others have already addressed the "good" player"s" and coach"es" comments.

You haven't seen crying yet! Wait until Sunday night, they're going to have to take him out of The Razor in a straight jacket! NO TEAM wants to play the Pats after a devastating loss. Just ask the Titans! I just hope the Pats don't tease us this time...let's break the 60 mark!!

Blah blah blah, 3 in a row. The 18-1* season had many Pats fan proclamations of a 50 point game and it fell on it's face. Your posts are predictable and weak.

When was the last time you blew us out in Foxboro? Even during your 18-1 year...remember that...18-1?? :gpc:We started Kellen Clemens, he got hurt, left the game and it still ended up being relativly close. Will you guys win?... probably...will you blow us out?...No

Do people really believe Rex has done a great job? That is quite a stretch.

No horrible...he's been a head coach for 9 games and only won 4 of them, he needs to be fired now. Mine as well start from scratch...lets draft Bradford and I hear John Gruden is available.

If you had said 'that's quite a stretch mark' it would have been a great post.
