1st round: Chris Jenkins. 350lb Nose Tackle, demands double and triple teams. Dominates the middle of the line. Stout against the run. Has multiple sacks. True game changer. 1st round: Leon Washington. Undersized true scat back able to run between the tackles and around the edge. Super strong and fast. A threat to score every time he has the ball. 1st round: "With the 32nd pick in the 2010 draft, the NY Jets select".....
I think he is saying that we are getting two guys back next year who are missing now plus a first round draft pick.
you're on to something. But players with bad legs don't come back the same way they were. Almost ever. So a 31 year old Jenkins with two bad knees and a scat back with a destroyed bone in his leg will be pretty different players. I still think if there is a way to get a NT in this draft that can immediately replace Jenx. You trade him and go get that player.
Amazing what some caffeine does for me in the morning. I wouldn't take the OP's statement as gospel, however. Over the course of his career, Jenkins has not done much to prove that he's a very durable athlete. Wear and tear on a 350 lb man is significant, and I really wonder how many more seasons his body can take. Leon is the unknown, as what he lacked in size he made up for in speed. Will he have the same spring to his step? Not sure- that being said, take away speed and he's an undersized HB and more of a liability than anything.
Look at the Pats today, playing without backups on half of the defense, and half the starters are people they picked out of no where. If we are basically rock bottom because we lost only two players, it's obvious that there are much larger problems that aren't going to be fixed by getting them back.
Whether or not Jenkins comes back, the Jets need to draft a young NT to either replace or spell our ManWhale. As KOZ points out, there is no way a man that size can be expected to make it through a 16 game schedule or 60 minutes of a game without a break. Unfortunately, we desperately need to upgrade the two DE positions as well. We simply don't get any push from Ellis and Douglas, and Rex's defense doesn't work without it. The pressure cannot come from the 2nd and 3rd levels all the time, and that's why we don't get off the field. So, Tannenbaum, you need 3 new defensive linemen, in addition to a replacement for the invisible Kerry Rhodes, the aging Alan Faneca, and the overrated D'brickashaw Ferguson. I would strongly advise you hang onto your draft picks, and maybe add a few more to fill these critical holes in the foundation of your defense and offense. True contender status doesn't happen until the line of scrimmage is accounted for.
First of all, who is Chris Jenkins? Secondly, this bullshit thread should have been in the bullshit forum. Thirdly, if it survives the bullshit forum, it should have been posted in the draft forum. Fourthly, you are a moron. Fifthly, why are you not banned yet???
yea Im pretty sure your crazy for thinking Brick is overrated. Hes still real young too who do you think we would draft that is better then him.
IIRC, the bone was a clean break in Washington. That won't affect him at all. If it were partial, or tore, it would, but a clean break is just healing it up and going at it again
it was a clean break out of his skin. this injury could have ended his career. trust me, he won't be exactly the same.
