this is a pretty stupid post.......I expected better from you. The fan participation is a huge part of the game....ever hear of something called "home field advantage"? Football teams rely on their fans to help facilitate penalites against the visitors. c'mon man.
Oh, no, I understand it affected the outcome. And that its very difficult to play in some places because of this practice. I just think false starts, delay of games and lack of audibles detract from the game and shouldn't be encouraged. Believe me, I'm quite happy our guys won. But we're going to be on the shorter end of this stick more often than not.
I have to admit I actually left early last game. I brought my daughter who complained the whole time.. God love her, but not a football fan, I still try and take her to one game a year hoping one day she'll enjoy it, still waiting for that day.. Tomorrow it's back to normal, section 313 will be loud! I say it here every week, the noise will always make a difference... Gotta start the 2nd half of the season off strong, off the bye, no excuses, big win.... LETS GO JETS!

Isn't it f'n sad that the HC HAS to ask the homefans to make some noise? Do the Jets have some of the crappiest fans in the NFL or something
A loud crowd only helps out the players better on the field. Rex looking for this noise from the fans in attendance is fine with me. I mean shit, him "calling out" the fans gets me pumped up to knock around some Jaguars and I'll be watching the game in my bedroom!
I really don't have a problem with it. Just coach showing some involvement. People who say "shut up and coach the team" should realize it doesn't take Ryan three days of planning to create the message. I remember watching that Pats game on TV and realizing I haven't heard the Meadowlands that loud on kickoff in my life. However, if he calls the fans out to much it will loose its effectiveness, and the team has to respond to the cheers by winning a damn game.
I only get to go to a game once in a while because it's normally out of my price range to do so, but through the years at the games that I've been to I've always noticed a tendency for the stadium to get really quiet when things aren't going well. It's often obvious even on TV. I admit, it's easy to get caught up in the gloom when you feel let down as a fan (especially as a Jets fan), but it definitely would make a difference in our home field advantage if our stadium was consistently louder. I don't blame Rex for bringing it up to the fans again - seems like a good coaching move to me. :jets:
Some of you are unbelievable. Ryan is right. First, those who think the crowd has no impact on a game are just wrong. Between the noise that disrupts an opposing offense and the energy that gets the home team pumped, a loud active stadium is worth quite a bit. The crowd played a huge role in the win over the Pats in week 2. Home field advantage is more than sleeping in your own bed and avoiding a plane trip. Second, Ryan is right to call out Jet fans. I've been going to games for 4 decades now and Jet fans are not good fans. Ryan is used to Baltimore, when the team played before a rocking packed house every week, where the stadium was full at the beginning and end of most games. And it comes down to more than noise. I can't remember a Jet game in the Meadowlands when the stadium was more than half full at the start of a game. Why can't people get their asses in the seats for the pre-game introductions? The fans all know how long it takes to get to the stadium, to park, and get into the stadium. The fans that don't make into the game for kickoff are not good fans. Period. And the same goes for the more than 50% of fans who miss the first few minutes of the second half also after halftime. I guess getting that last beer is more important than the first five minutes of the third quarter. And then there are those that leave early. It is pathetic. It's not just the noise - its the complete lack of effort. Would you show up for work 15 minutes late, take a long lunch, and then leave work early every day? That is what the typical Jet fan does at a home game. Third, the Jets' record this year and the crowd behavior are two different things. Let's face it. This is a team with a rookie QB and a rookie HC. Both were going to have growing pains. But all in all, the Jets have been a prepared football team that has played very well, even in the games they lost. They held a Saints offense in check better than any team this year, lost to Buffalo becasue the OC got too cute and refused to let a dominant running game and defense win the game, and lost to Miami because of two kick returns. If you can't see that this team is getting better and developing a formula for winning football, give up the sport. I for one like Ryan's attitude. I like having a team and a coach with en edge. I like for the coach to tell it like it is. It is a refreshing change from Mangini, whose robotic lack of emotion sapped the energy out the team and the fans. So if you consider yourself a Jets fan, prove it. Don't make excuses about the tough losses. Get in your seats early, cheer loudly, and stay until the end. And realize that this is a team that is rapidly improving and will likely contend for a playoff spot next year and for many years after that. Isn't that what we wanted? Isn't that why the Jets drafted Sanchez and hired Ryan and signed Scott and Leonard and others? To build a team that can consistently compete? Give the team and the coach a chance. This was not a one year go for it all season.
That is a great way of putting it! And fans pay to go to these games not like we are getting any advantage for leaving early ..except maybe arriving home earlier.. I will be in my seat for intros ..all the way until the last whistle sounds ...as usual!!!
A home crowd that is loud is a good thing. I live in Arizona and have never been to a Jets home game. I went to see the Jets when they played the cardinals in phoenix at scumdevil stadium. The hell hole they played in before their new stadium. I lost my voice by the end of the game. Who inspired me to scream my head off you ask. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS! fans. This guy was telling me how he used to go see the Jets games in Shea. Another guy who was shirtless was yelling at the cardinals fans . "I will personally throw each and everyone of you off this balcony". They were yelling their ass off in F'in phoenix for christ sakes. I met some of the coolest people I have ever met in my life and they were all Jets fans. If I ever had the time and money to fly to NY for a Jets game I would scream my F%#CKI^G head off for the Jets. The home field should never be overlooked. I yell at the TV in the bar for our beloved Jets. Maybe it is not to much to ask to be a bunch of loud as hell Jets fans at the games. Trust me it must be painful to sit and watch the Jets give away games. Ask yourselves this question.... How many times have you paid your hard earned money.......went down and saw the Jets kick some major arss? And tailgating I could only imagine.....Tell me you do not have a great time tailgating before the game. The point is the Jet fans that attend the game can make a huge difference in the outcome of a game period the end. Now all who are able go out there today and be the best Jets fans you can be. See my post above. It's hard for a stadium to be loud when it half empty until the middle of the first quarter, the middle of the third quarter and the end of the fourth quarter. Your signature says it all. Most fans are more concerned with having that last beer in the parking lot before the game than getting in on time. Most fans are more concerned with getting that last beer at halftime before beer sales are cut off than watching the start of the second half (the crowd at the start of the 2nd half is dead because half the stadium is on line for beer or the bathroom). Too many fans are concerned with beating the traffic and getting home 30 minutes earlier (after spending 6 hours away from home already) than watching the most important part of the game. Until those issues are resolved, screaming your head off will mean nothing. It's not the noise, its the empty seats and the concern for things non-football related.
2006 Oakland vs Jets when they clinched the wildcard spot - 3/4 full at kickoff, full for the middle of the game, and as the closing minutes counted down, it wasn't that full. I remember sitting in an entire row - At field level - and the next person next to me was 7 seats down the row. WTF?! the Jets are about to clinch a wild card spot and its not even packed out? I hate my fanbase. I guess NY/NJ is a baseball town after all.
Of course not. Actually, I want our guys, all on their own, to rip his head off and piss down his throat. Let me ask you something, because I really don't know the answer. Can you bring whistles and airhorns into the stadium? Cause they'd help get it really loud. It would also be pretty close, in my opinion, to manufacturing noise through the PA system, which is definitely not cool. I think Rex is getting dangerously close to doing something like that. That's my point. And that's why I don't think it should be encouraged. Its not football. You all could throw bottles at the visitors, that'd get them off their game too. Its not that I don't understand how it helps our team, or that I don't want us to win. I swear, football fans sometimes aren't the brightest.
