Thomas Jones fumbled 4 times in his rookie season, lost 3 of them, had a total of 373 rushing yards on 112 attempts, and had 2 rushing touchdowns.

TJ had 27 carries, did you want him to have all 35 carries?

    No He isn't.

He's a little bit faster. A little harder to tackle. 7 years younger, and 3.2million less on the cap.

Everyone fumbles once in while. Even CMart coughed it up at bad times. It happens.

    Perspective.

^It's free so I left that here for you.

I like greene I think he will be good some day but throwing a rookie in the fire right away when you have a pro bowler ahead of him is not a good idea. Look where its leading sanchez. Rookies make mistakes it happens so lets let them learn at a good pace.

Shonn Greene and Thomas Jones had the same YPC in yesterday's game. Greene had less carries, sure, but no reason to get down on his performance yesterday

How did I miss this one yesterday?

This guy is priceless. Everything that comes out of him is glittering garbage. He's like VG56 minus the obvious intent to troll.

You are an uneducated idiot( as your username indicates) , and deserve to be banned. No one said Greene is TJ, but when we draft a rookie RB, we want to see him get some touches. You trying to tell me TJ never fumbled?

If you want a crash course on how the NFL works, book a room, ya douche

And Thomas Jones was a top 7 draft pick, so he and Greene aren't in the same expectations range as rookies. The Jets should be splitting carries between Jones and Green 60/40 at worst. Jones had some kind of silly split until last year in his production numbers as a runningback. It was like the reverse Curtis Martin: he did much better in his first 10-15 carries of each game than in carries 16 and above. Then last year in his career year he evened the numbers out some. What you do with him is give him his 15-20 carries, but interspersed through the 4 quarters and make sure that Greene gets 10-12 at least also.

The real issue though is that the Jets should be divvying up the plays between Sanchez, Jones and Greene more evenly. 20 Throws for Sanchez, maybe 20 carries tops for Jones and 15 for Greene. That would be the kind of balanced offense you want with a rookie QB running the show.

You're right. Shonn Greene is no Thomas Jones. Greene can actually break a tackle

    Please don't feed the troll...........

Rookie or not, given an equal amount of carries on a game by game basis, I have no doubt that Shonn would be the more productive of the two backs. He is quicker, more powerful, more decisive a runner, more punishing and runs with a much lower pad level. Its too bad he's behind the learning curve on his pass protect blocking and that he has a way to go before he can be considered an adequate receiver out of the backfield to justify his presence on the field in third down situations but I flat out love the guy and his potential to be a back who can carry much if not all of the load out of the backfield.

I assume that he does know that, which is why he qualified his post with "I'm not saying he's a bust." Why does everyone on this forum have to be so combative about everything?

And by the way, the original poster is right: Shonn Greene is no Thomas Jones. Despite what many Jets fans for some reason choose to believe, not many backs in the NFL are as good as Jones is. That said, Greene is very impressive for a rookie running back--good physical tools and good vision are a great combination and it's not an accident that he racked up so many yards in college.

Thomas Jones didn't do shit this season until Shonn Greene saw the field. When Shonn Greene started getting carries, Thomas Jones started running harder. Additionally, bitching about Greene's fumble is ridiculous - He never fumbled the ball in college. Not once. It was bound to happen eventually.

Pay Jones now. I kid you not, Thomas is a must for next year if we want to push on as a legit contender. Greene is a long way from an every down back. Good thread.

you know nothing about football.....absolutely nothing.

I'm hoping Greene doesn't drop any swing passes in 2 weeks....we may see more of these insightful threads.

i love how shonn greene runs but hes not as good as tj as other things like blocking or catching. With LW out we need TJ for screen passes and shonn greene has hasheem thabeets hands (from rookie year).
