Here's a couple of random thoughts by yours truly regarding today's debacle. 1) if any of you still think Sanchez is garbage...you should go shoot yourselves. He played a hell of a game....no turnovers, 250+ yards passing....well done. 2) Brad Smith should've been out there playing. Why would you make one of our best special team tacklers "inactive"?! And for who....so Leadfoot Izzo can run around and miss tackles.....or so Rudy Woodhead can continue to give Jets fans false hope? C'mon Westhoff...you know better than that. PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS!!! 3) The wildcat was stopped today....2/3 of Bell Biv Devoe were stopped cold (Ricky and Ronny.....Michael was "inactive").....I don't want to hear from these Dolphin homos how the Jets were owned by the Wildcat....because it didn't happen. Try watching the game instead of trying to keep your balance on that bandwagon, Phin fans. 4) Braylon Edwards better be signed long term in the offseason. He's money in the bank. 5)Losing Jenkins didn't look nearly as bad today....as the loss of Leon Washington. Justin Miller is done, people. 6) Henne ate more grass today...than a flock of farm goats. He was NOT the reason why the Phins won the game...in fact, he was mediocre at best. This loss is on the Jets Special Teams....through and through. That's 14 points that should NEVER have made it to the scoreboard. On a positive not...those 2 kickoff return TD's could've easily snuffed the Jets momentum....but the Jets didn't give up...and made a game of it. I still believe in this team. And that my friends.....is the bottom line.
Very well said. I was a little puzzled by Justin Miller because I was expecting him to show a little more burst on kickoffs. However, I want to give him a few weeks of returning only because I can't really think of a better option on our roster. We finally got consistent pressure on the QB today and put up a bunch of sacks. I completely agree with you, the loss is on the special teams because every other unit played well enough to win.
I agree on Miller. He's not seemed lightning fast, he's strider. Who knows what he's been doing while he was home this season. Atleast he didn't turn the ball over. Was Brad Smith on the injury report?
Agreed, people can say what they want about Sanchez, but this kid plays with passion, and skill. A good game well fought......
Woodhead really looked bad on ST today. I wonder if he'll be staying on the active roster after this disaster.
that was the worst ST performance i'ver seen in a really long time. Not since the wk1 Buffalo/Jet game in 2002 where Chad Morton scored on 2 KR for a TD did i see a special teams unit look that bad
If I remember correctly, at the beginning of the CBS telecast...they said B.Smith was able to play...but was made "inactive".
The voice of reason!!! Pouha had a nice game, in fact, the entire D-Line played very well. Leon Washington is a Dolphin killer........he was missed. Justin Miller looked Slooooooow.
I was happy with Ellis today. Harris too. Edwards I hope we keep for a long time, I like his heart. Feely is a beast, put him on the D. lol
ST was awful no doubt about it. I was among those who at one point said that if they are not going to let Sanchez throw, then put in Clemens. I was glad I was wrong and was excited to see him fight back and end the game well. Pouha was good, good pass rush. In the end just another loss.
He might be ok as a return man or RB or slot but clearly he can't stay on the coverage unit. If that means he goes inactive or back to the practice squad, then that needs to be done.
I was pleasantly surprised at how the Jets kept fighting. Unfortunately, we lost because of our ST's and of course, what would any Jet loss be without questionable playcalling by Schotts when the game is on the line. I do wonder if this team, as presently constituted, has the personnel to accomplish complete comebacks as they lack firepower and a QB with the experience to pull it off. So far, they come back but they come back short. Signs of a team still on the drawingboard evidently. I'm already looking forward to 2010 and see if this team progresses under Ryan 2.0
Excellent points all around. I think this is just going to end up being a mediocre season, but I feel great about how young our team is on both sides of the ball.
