He did take out 2 players with 1 hit. One of them left with a concussion. I agree though, he sits back on his heels too much he needs to get after shit.
exactly. the guy looked good in preseason and has barely seen the field. I expected to see him yesterday being that DeVito has to rotate at nose now. we'll see. any word on ellis?
we need to sell out to the run next week. i think they looked really inconsistent at best. let's make henne beat our DB's 1 on 1.
I don't think there is anything to worry about other than the normal worries. Miami has a great running game and a pretty darn good defense. They are beatable, but it is by no means an easy win. Again, in large part, it will come down to can we run the ball effectively against their defense. This takes time off the clock and keeps their offense off the field. If we can get up on them during the first half it will force Henne to throw more and that is how we control this game. This game is all on our offensive line, our defenses ability to stop the run, and collectively as a team making very fwew mistakes. A moster load of noise at the stadium will not hurt either.
i am absolutely concerned about the run defense. i will be until the end of the year as it is a question mark without jenkins. you guys talking about we won blah blah, do you actually watch the game and see what is going on or do you just look at the results and if we win then everything is wonderful and if we lose the sky is falling? the op has a legitimate concern with the run d.
I've been reading some Phin fan stuff. Many seem to be scared that Braylon will have a field day with Allen out. I agree with this, last time Braylon played great that was with 2.5 days of practice. Their rush D might be good, but their pass D sucks.
that's why I say let the kid throw. he's not going to have another 5 INT day. He learned from it. Let him air it out to the 3 WRs the Jets have that can do damage. spread them thin, and run the ball too.
I agree the run d didn't look all that good but without the big man in the middle i think where going to see some of this. The Linebackers will have to step up and there definitely capable of doing that. to be fair fargas didn't run all over us thats exaggerating but he did have a couple of big runs on us. we need to be our best against the run next week becasue the fruity wild dolphin is coming to jersey.
You win this thread. Seriously, every team gives up some yardage during a game. The run D stopped Fargas more times than he ripped off a big gain. I'd say the run D is the weak point of the D, but isn't a major weakness.
He needs to play like Polamalu. I know systems have a lot to do with that, and I have been giving Kerry the doubt, assuming that our system is limiting him.
Sorry but I disagree with the "let him throw" comment, we need to establish the run, I hope BS does not give up on the run and puts the game in Marks hands to win. I'm not saying he should not throw, my suggestion would be not more than 20 pass attempts.
You've got to be f*cking kidding me. We just threw a shutout and you're gonna cry about the Defense? We LOST Kris Jenkins. Arguably the BEST player on defense...to expect our D to not be weakened is crazy
to be under 20 pass attempts the rushing attack is going to take the lead and the defense is going to have to shut down the wildcat. he's going to throw 24+ times. That secondary is weak, and sanchez exploited it in Miami. I agree on establishing the run, but I think he's going to have to make some plays next sunday.
Obviously our run defense is gonna be hurt with the loss of jenkins, everybody else just needs to step up a notch..
