Gholston is playing like a 3rd round draft pick not a 1st.

when teams run to his side 90% of the time is a gain of 4+ yards.

just wait for his contract to run out.

There is no sense in talking about it anymore. He will be cut after this season b/c with the uncapped year, there will be no cap hit to cut players. We need to get his dead weight off our books.

I think he'll do great in the UFL, he'll be a UFL superstar.

Anybody else still believe he can turn it around? He was somewhat effective last week in creating pressure, but he just couldn't put it all together. He was a step away from getting a sack. It was against the bills, but I believe he can be an nfl player.

Look some guys get drafted too high, some too low, and some just right.

Gholston was drafted too high, but it does not mean he can't be a servicable player for us for a long time to come.

Look at that Gallery guy on the Raiders.. he was drafted as a LT, and stunk it up, but then they moved him to Guard and he did pretty well..

Or B. Thomas, drafted too high, but at the moment he's a solid member of our LBer corps, so it's not a total loss, if the guy can contribute then its good.

    A. Carrol is another one.. he was drafted too high as a CB, but now he's making plays for us on ST... yeah its not what he was initially drafted to do, but at least he's doing something productive.

you can't just throw his draft position out the window. if he turns out to be just a 'serviceable' player, you still hafta be pissed about it, because we drafted him to be a dynamic pass rushing OLB, and has all the physical tools to do so but is fucking slow in the head or something. on top of that we're paying him like a top pass rusher too (because of the draft spot) so you can't say "some drafted too high, too low, etc. as long as they're serviceable players."

rule of thumb is that you give a player 3 full seasons to prove whether he's legit or whether he's a bust who won't make it in the league. The Ghost has a little more than a year and a half left to show us that he can be an impact fucking player like he should be, and honestly i don't see him making that kind of a jump in a year and a half's time. i'd love for him to do it, but the motivation/internal fire/mindset isn't there.

EDIT: another thing about the draft spot. people are pissed because we had a top-10 pick and we've wasted it on a guy who won't become an impact player for us. at the 6 spot we could have gotten/traded down and received a bunch more picks to draft any one of jerod mayo, leodis mckelvin, jonathan stewart, joe flacco, rashard mendenhall, kenny phillips, desean jackson, etc etc etc.

What pisses me off more is the money he is making... although some guys make too much and some too little (like LW) and those things even out too...

I hadn't even thought of that. There's something in the back of my head that sees another team picking him up and turning him into a perennial pro-bowler though... but then again... it's Vernon "Baby Steps" Gholston.

Maybe we can get him addicted to speed or cocaine, that should fire him up a bit.

But he sucks at linebacker, DE and special teams. What's left, long snapper?
