if your QB isn't confident, throw some screens to get him back up to speed. how many screens did we run yesterday? yeah it was all sanchez :/
You can only throw screens effectively if the D is overpursuing and rushing upfield . The Bills were taking away the the short type passes due to the weather.
One of the most worrying things was the look on Ryan's face at the post game. He looked .... puzzled. The last time I saw that look on a Jet HC's face was Kotite. I hope we are not going down that road. These next few weeks will say alot about Ryan's HC abilities.
I'm starting to wonder about Rex, personally. From shitty clock management to arrogant play calling, and he said a few things last week in the press conference that irked me.
I am still irked by the incredible stupidity displayed by Schotty and Rex yesterday. yes Sanchez sucked. But beyond that - this team was stomping the bills d on the ground game. 3 yds, 6 yds, 9 yds etc. There was NO REASON TO THROW THE BALL ON FIRST DOWN OR SECOND DOWN. Much less to through the ball long into double and triple coverage. This game was a win. All the Jets had to do was possess the ball and eat the clock on the ground game that Buffalo couldn't stop. Instead our OC and HC decide to get cute and start running long snap counts and passing plays which repeatedly backfired. They are sitting there with a top flight OL and TJ and Leon and they insist on trying to go long into the wind and against double coverage. WTF IS THAT? I call it incredibly Stupid football. Rex needs to get control of this team. He needs to realize that his strength is Possession Football - RUN THE FNG BALL. Not asking Sanchez to be Dan Marino.
Pretty much on the money. In the wind nonetheless. For a guy that spent months talking about his cold weather offense, he's sure relying on Schotty a lot, who clearly still thinks he's in San Diego.
I could not agree more with your assessment. The running game was working and they could have rotated Greene in to keep Washington and Jones fresh. I really like Sanchez and I think the coaches are asking him to do too much too early. He does not need to be babied, but developing him wisely is the right thing to do. Yesterday as you said in the second half we should have just kept pounding the ball in there or around the ends. Sneak a pass now and then. Just don't put the kid in the position to throw 5 interceptions in his 5th game, that just shows no common sense.
I blame the HC for not being prepared, AGAIN! 2 weeks in a row his sideline presence has failed to finish as ugly as the MIA game was played on defense we were close and could have won with a better 2nd half strategy. The details are evident Rex hasn't handled the 4th quarter of the losses well. Sanchez is going to make enough mistakes on his own this year I expected growing pains. We play like we expect a blowout and nothing else Get a better 4th quarter strategy for these grinds and FINISH STRONG!
People here are acting like instead of calling a running play the coaches decided to call an INT play. Calling a pass play doesn't mean calling a turnover. Its trying to attack. If the QB cant handle throwing the ball then bench him. Whats so hard to understand about that.
They haven't really been rolling Sanchez out since game two. I'm really wondering if the tendinitis in the knee is more than it is being reported as and if it is limiting his movement some. He took off the brace a couple of games ago spontaneously after running out of bounds for a first down. Just ripped it off his leg and went back to the huddle. I think it is probably a factor in how they are using him.
Ryan did not force Sanchez to throw interceptions by trying to force the ball to Edwards or make something out of nothing. There were too many telegraphed passes to put that on Rex. The reality of the situation is the Bills could have had 8 interceptions had they not dropped three of them. Sanchez could easily have 15-17 picks already with dropped passes by the defenders over the last six games but we overlook that.
You don't attack when you don't have to.... You run the game out and Get your Baby rookie QB back into the classroom with a bad weather WIN under his belt... This game was over already... The Bills don't execute enough plays to come back without Giveaways.. MAKE THEM MARCH THE FIELD EVERY TIME.... Wait for THEM to mess up... they will, they always do. Run the ball, use the clock and PUNT if you have to... This game was over already.
Your arguement is dont call pass plays because our QB is going to turn it over - stick with the run and punt it. That just means your QB sucks. Fitz-whats-his-name had few problems connecting on several key passes including the 50 yard TD. Fitz-whats-his-name was the better QB. Stop making excuses for a QB that couldn't handle the situation against a crappy banged up secondary.
For the most part - us as a fan base accepts that Sanchez sucked yesterday and couldn't handle the situation. We all accepted it by the middle of the second quarter - Why couldn't Schotty?!?!
Like I said earlier - you make it easier on a young QB by simplifying the pass calls: roll him out, run max protect, get the TE more involved etc. Maybe if I rewatched all the games I'd think differently - but right now I feel as if Schotty is trying to prove how much Sanchez can handle by throwing the whole playbook at him. This is not the offense I anyone anticipated when we declared we would be a smashmouth offense that relies on defense and field position.
