The question I have for you is how is losing on the road to a team that looks to be one of the top 2 or 3 in the NFC SOJ? The other question is were we really supposed to beat Miami on the road? They beat us in the season finale last year and we were a freak play by Favre from losing to them in the opener last year? Do I think we are a better football than we played like last night? Absolutely and should we have won last night? Absolutely; but my guess is your also a Yankee fan by your assuming the Jets are supposed to win every game. We were never going 14-2 or 15-1 or even 13-3. I'm always blown away by the SOJ moniker. People fail to realize that the Jets have made the playoffs multiple times since Parcells got here and we have actually won playoff games. I haven't done the math but my guess is the Jets have more playoff wins than the 49ers, Bills, Redskins and Cowboys combined since the late 90's and those were the 4 marquee franchises of the 80's and 90's yet I never hear people throwing around Same old Cowboys, they haven't won a playoff game since Aikman. He has already been inducted into the HOF. What does that tell you?
I'm sure Kurt is not basing his opinions on a single game, but more so on his entire life of being a Jets fan. Not sure how old you are, but there have been MANY games where this franchise melts down and stabs the hearts of its fan base. I'm not telling you the season is over...but in his defense, if he's been a fan as long as I have (since 1986) there has been A LOT of heartache over the years.
Not trying to gloat, just to try and get a handle on all of the blind optimism regarding what this team might do next week. The overwhelming majority of the circle jerk mutual jack-off posting around here doesn't deserve any relpy. Yeah this team seems to be headed in the right direction, but it's tough to shake of the legacy and culture of the past. SOJ has a proven track record. I'll debate you on the point of who is that rational fan. There is a difference between dwelling in the past and living in the present with a guarded optimism that is based in reality and history. This franchise needs to prove itself. I've seen signs, but not near enough to relable to this team. Two ugly games in a row, not two losses in a row. Big difference. Yup, Sanchez is a rookie and lost the game against the Saints. This is the problem, The D played great in that game and the offense had a legit reason for it's poor performance. What is the reason for last night's loss. The D was pitiful. The offense played better, but was helped out by a couple of very generous penalties. There is not enough consitency with this team to rule out a loss against Buffalo or Oakland. It doesn't matter that Cleveland beats the Bills. You mention that it isn;t like the Jets lost to St. Louis or Detroit, yet every year the Jets lose to a team that everyone esle beat. Oakland has sucked for the past several years and the Jets have had losses against them. Making excuses for the past two losses and emphatically stating that they will beat Buffalo and Oakland is asinine.
Teams lose games. Even the best teams in the league over the past 10 years have laid stinkers. Jesus christ do you remember the Cardinals game last year in NE!! Who the fuck thought after that game those clowns were going anywhere...result...SB. Two years ago Eli got picked 4 times in an ass whooping to Minn. and every Giants fan was talking about trading him or not extending his contract...result...SB. The Fins are a good team. Call their O gimmicky, horseshit,...whatever. It works, if we did it with as much success as they do we'd all be buying "D-Rex and the Wildcat" t-shirts for $20 a pop. We lost a close game to a division rival, on the road, who just happen to be the defending AFC East champs. Does the lose hurt...fuck yea it does. Anytime your D gets butt fucked on national TV and you lose the game in the last 5 seconds its gonna sting like a bitch. But good teams learn from the fuck up, buckle down and move on to the next one. If we take out Buttfalo, the Raiders, and get one back on Miami in our house all is well. That will be 6-2 at the half way point heading into a bye week. The Braylon, Sanchez connection is only going to get better and we should get Lito and Strick back soon. I was as pissed as anyone last night and I cant wait till 415 on Sunday. Im not through with this season yet....LETS GO JETS!!!
It's not one loss in isolation that breads the SOJ sentiment. I don't think that the Jets should win every game and the loss to the Saints wasn't unexpected. Nor were the reasons that they lost to the Saints. What also isn't unexpected are the losses every year to teams that they should beat. You said yourself that they should have one last night. The D played great against the Saints and sucked ass last night. I thought that the Jets were the better team headed into last nights game and they obviously were not. Are you saying that they shouldn't win road games? And its not that the Jets don't make playoff games, it is how they lose them that defines SOJ.
Exaclty my point. The difference is that you're keeping it real. You state "if" we take out Buffalo. I'm with you. I hope that the Jets learn and get better, but it is still a question mark. IF. Not this blind optimism that disregards what just happened and proclaims that the Jets are going to go 4-0 over the next couple of weeks.
Just heard Kerry Rhodes on the radio essentially saying the team had a shot to take control of the division and now they are going to be underdogs and he likes that role. Now I'm not a believer in SOJ per say but Kerry Rhodes has described the essence of SOJ from my point of view. Win when you don't have to back in when it's do or die but when you have a chance to step up and take control don't play with a sense of urgency, focus, commitment. This is what seperates good enough from great.
I'm not a Jets fan, but if I were I wouldn't want people like you on my side anyway. Thinking like a loser makes you a loser.
I don't care if your a Pats fan but you are one of the most level headed posters on this board. I may agree with you on evrything but you certainly are one of the better non Jet posters here.
I Though the day would never come that i would say this but for a dolphins fan you speak the 100% truth. We still have alot of time to make this right , We clobber the bills next week and we take it from there and if we do somehow lose next week then we can slit our wrist until we pass away.....
I haven't heard anyone say that we're somehow going to lobby the NFL to play 4 games over the next two weeks. That would be both unprecedented and quite dangerous for our players. I'd much prefer the schedule how it is, with 3 games in 3 weeks, a bye, and then that 4th game. Yes, 4 games over 5 weeks definitely sounds better.
This is so unbelievably pathetic right here. You're pissed at yourself for getting excited? What the hell is the point of being a fan of a professional sports franchise if you can't allow yourself to get excited when the team is playing well? What a waste. You won't get excited if the team reels off 10 straight wins. You won't get excited until they win the SB. You won't allow yourself to get behind the team until they actually win something now. Guess what? We have a term for people who avoid supporting a team until that team wins something. It's not called a "Darksider", or a "Realist", it's called a Fairweather Motherfucking Bandwagon Fan. Go ahead, doubt the shit out this team. Some of us enjoy the ride, even if it is ups and downs. And while you're sitting there one day finally feeling some sliver of emotion for a team you used to love, we'll have been riding that excitement clear to the Lombardi Trophy. No one's saying it's happening this year, but when it does, I'll be right here to remind you of what a great "fan" you were.
We lost to the faggy dolphins which pretty much means we are getting another high draft pick cause we're going 3-13, FUCK!!! I'm becoming a Panthers fan!!
you darksiders can have all the fun you want. and by fun i mean self depreciating cycle of ball-less lack of confidence. peace.
