The jury is still out on Mike T..... He has brought talent to the Jets.... However the jury is still out if this talent translates into wins. All in all his future will hinge on Mark Sanchez's development.... same with Rex... same with Schottenheimer...
Have we forgotten about the Jenkins trade? I am thoroughly impressed with Tanny. Of course what matters is how the players produce on the field. But you can't really ask more out of a GM.
As far as i'm concerned...the only blemish on Mike T's record is the Gholston pick...and even the jury is still out on that. The man is an aggressive genius.....and is a total 180 from Terry Bumway. I embrace this man and how he's run the team thus far.
Goddamn rite we forgot about him. Godzilla is out destroying all the buildings and we didn't notice? How rude! Actually, he has done so much, its hard to keep a track of.
Gholston is all Mangini. It was in a newsday article that he pulled a power play over the FO and demanded to get Gholston. i don't blame Mike T for that, i'm just gunna wait out Gholstons contract and wave bye bye. Westerman should balance out the financials with the value between the two of them.
well then.....Mike T's legacy is intact. maybe I should change my usertitle from "The Bear Jew" to "Tanny Christ".
Exactly, the most important of them all. Another thing to notice is that we always sell high and buy low. The trades that he has executed: 1) Kris Jenkins-obviously an unbelievable force in the middle but he wore out his welcome in Carolina so the price was low. 2)Braylon-Browns wanted a 1st and a quality player for him early in the offseason. We called their bluff and got the same player for half the price. Not to mention hes at least as good as Roy Williams and I think he went for two firsts. 3) Brett Favre-Didn't work out great, but we went after him after the Packers named Rodgers the starter. 4) Lito Sheppard-Pro Bowler who was being replaced in Philadelphia because they didnt want to give him a new contract. Got him for very little. 5) Thomas Jones-We got him AND a low second round pick for a high second round pick, bargain 6) Trading away Ratliff, Elam, Trusnick, and Stuckey all in their peaks to get higher quality, proven players. The man deserves a round of applause.
I'm happy about our GM's desire to feild a winner , but am worried that his open aggressiveness illustrates and helps San Fransisco prove we tampered with Crabtree. The chain of events went a little too close together to be ignored. Crab tree finally signs and then we put this deal together. Id hate to loose a first round draft pick !
When any of us want to bitch about Woody(PSL talk aside), all we have to do is think about when Leon Hess owned this team. Geez....
word.... Hess may have had low ticket prices from what I hear - but it meant no money coming in to help the team grow. The argument could be made to blame Hess for a bunch of the Jets national perception as a 2nd rate team.
I agree 100%. When he bought the team I thought he was just some stiff bureaucratic dipshit that bought a professional team to have a new hobby. The guy puts his money on the table, stays behind the scene and lets the people he hires do their jobs. We don't need any Jerry Jones's or Altimer Davises trying to run the show.
It's all about the organization from top to bottom. The culture is changing right before our eyes and it appears most of us can't beleive it's happening. Most long time fans are just waiting for something to go wrong, including my self, but i'm starting to beleive and this team is on it's way. From top to bottom the winning attitude is here to stay....
I heard about that before can you tell me what really happened. If that is true then that makes Tanny even smarter.
A Super Bowl win is priceless for all the fans who have been waiting for two generations for it. It's priceless for Woody Johnson (and the fans) if it helps sell the PSL's that will anchor the Jets in the metro region. It's priceless for the NFL if it gives them a chance to showcase a rising latino QB and get the fastest growing demographic in America to turn their attention from beisbol to futbol. Tannenbaum has obviously decided the window is right now. The Patriots are as weak as they're likely to be for the forseeable future as Tom Brady tries to recover his form and the defense struggles to replace its prime players of the last decade. I think given all of the preceding moves this trade was the best move right now. It may not work out for any number of reasons, but I see no teams in the NFL that I think are better than the Jets or more prepared to win it all at the moment. Every Jets surge in the 40 years I've been watching them has fallen short because something went wrong. We may get the same result this time but I look at the team we have now and I think every effort has been made to make it as sharp as it could be for this season. You can't ask for more than that.
maybe i can find the link to the article. Brian Baldinger broke the story to newsday about Mangini overruling the scouts and Mike T because they are all friends. I bet that and the defensive collapse are the reasons why he went bye bye and is now handing the Jets a perennial contender.
Depth, depth, depth.... At some point, Tanny will have to stop using our DP's as bargaining chips and actually use them to increase our talent beyond our front line starters. Injuries happen and as of today, we're paying the price by not having much depth at all at the skill positions. I'm glad today's trade only cost us a 3rd and 5th. Too bad he didn't include Clowney and keep perhaps the 3rd. No depth will bite us in the ass folks..
T is a great GM and has built us a solid ball club. Nice trade and only time will tell how good it really will be but for the moment i think it was great.
I like Tanny's aggressiveness. The true test will be whether we suffer as teh result of lost draft picks.
