I sent an email in to NFL Radio because it is an email Wednesday and asked why they don't think Edwards is a true #1 WR.

They said it's because of drops and he doesn't run tight routes.

They also said that guys like Wayne, Ocho, Moss are all super competitive and work hard to win each play even when they don't get the ball and do stuff in the offseason to get better. Then they compared Edwards to Dwayne Bowe....tons of potential but maybe it won't ever be fully realized. Weak.

Why is it weak? They gave their opinion.

Like with Gholston, if someone is going to get the potential out of him, it's Rex. And considering we didn't give up the value it would take to get a "true #1", I think it's a risk worth taking.

Edwards has proved them right for the past two seasons.

His breakout 3rd season happened because he devoted himself to the game. then he went back to his old habits.

If he realizes he can win here maybe he'll grow up again and become the premier WR he was a couple of years ago.

I think the scenery change is necessary. Nobody wants to do well in Cleveland.

Because I think they have disregarded a lot of what the guy has done in a bad situation and focused on the biggest weak spot in his game, even though it's a big one.

If his work ethic really is an issue, let's hope new surroundings and perhaps a stronger locker room will be able to change that.

I bet Mangini has him in shape. Work ethic in terms of running tight consistant routes may be why they just traded him to us~

    Gannon hates the Jets.

    Should have asked Adam Shine.

So he said that Edwards is big and talented, but drops the ball a lot, is not a great route runner, and has apparently not been focused enough on football the last couple of years. Everyone pretty much agrees that this is all true. He has also had problems off the field. And that shows that doubting Edwards is being biased against the Jets? I personally don't understand that interpretation at all.

Isn't this Braylon's contract year? And he came into camp out of shape and his play has been mediocre at best....hmm.

I totally agee with them. People have this belief that just because a WR is 6' 3" AND RUNS A 4.4 40, he is a #1. It isn't size or speed that makes a #1 WR, it's work ethic as well. It's running precise routes, and putting forth 100% effort every play, every season, regardless if your team isn't any good. Cotchery does that. Edwards doesn't. That is why Cotchery is a #1 WR, and Edwards isn't.

I believe that Edwards can help us, and that Rex can get the most out of him. But to call him a #1 WR, or say he's great even, just because of his size and speed is just silly.

My only issue with that email is he thinks that Moss is a guy that works hard on every play, even when he is not involved. That is just complete BS.

Let me ask the board this....on 3rd and 8 in the 4th quarter in week 15who is Sanchez going to throw to?

I'll give you a hint...he's the guy that has proved to be reliable and has exceeded expectations every year he's been in the league, the guy that runs precise routes, is tough as nails and catches everything.

Yes and that same guy will now be open thanks to Edwards. Thats the thing, we don't need Edwards to be the #1 here, we just need him to be the guy that opens everyone else up, including getting the 8th guy out of the box.

I don't think the 8th guy in the box is the reason why our RBs get hit at the LOS so often...

The only part I disagree with is the part he said about Moss. Moss was not an elite wr when he went to Oakland and started the Randy Ratio to make sure he got balls thrown his way. Wasnt until he was on a undefeated team did he have a career season, not to mention early on in his career he was terrible at running routes. Another thing after the Atlanta game several Falcons said they would adjust there defense after seeing how Moss would run to the line after the huddle.

Yeah and you didn't think Gholston was doubled on that one play either.

I have nothing against Cleveland, the city or the team. But that does seem to be true, doesn't it?
