I feel as retarded as some of the Gholston choir, why am I wasting brain cells arguing with a bunch of clueless idiots who are OBVIOUSLY in love with Gholston's hype over his actual ability and who have a hard time comprehending simple English.

Sorry for any of Gholston's boyfriends that I may have offended. LMAO!

GBA, please point to the highlight reel. I must have missed those plays to which you are referring.

They ran his way all game. The guy is a fuckin BUST!
One play the runningback was running right at him and he ran towards the sideline away from the play!
Has to be the worst pick in a long line of JETS draft fuck ups.

Some of you are really pathetic with scapegoating Gholston. The third down conversions that you now seem to want to blame Gholston for (as if that cost us the game LOL) were almost all Brees pass plays not running plays at Gholston.

Yes the Saints ran the ball effectively on the Jets today. They ran the middle, the right side and the left side.

I didn't buy a Gholston jersey but I just find it crazy to laugh at people who are rooting for the 2008 1st rounder to succeed in the system. We are stuck with him for 4-5 more years, for better or for worse. Why not try and show optimism for the guy to overcome and evolve. I said it earlier in a thread a few months ago that I expect Gholston to show bits of improvement this year but by year 3 begin to become a steady enough player.

Bryan Thomas did absolutely nothing in the game, Bart Scott was hit and miss in this game, Douglas/Ellis were absolutely non factors despite them having a heavy favoring matchup against Zack Streit the 3rd string NO LT. There were guys with bigger expectations than Gholston in this game that didn't do their jobs, thats the point I am getting at.

How was he going to show something in his 1st season if Mangini had no confidence in him? Gholston had great games vs NE and vs HOU and he had huge stops in the NE game that without it, we could have very well lost and been at .500

Sorry my name is ATL-JET, not Jesus.

Our defense did NOT play fine. And as usual another Gholston sack crab. LMAO.

    SANCHEZ SUCKED TODAY! Acknowledged
SCHOTTY MADE SOME TERRIBLE CALLS...I did not acknowledge
The REFS screwed up on several calls...I did not acknowledge
    Our Run Offense SUCKED...Acknowledged
    Our RUN DEFENSE SUCKED...Acknowledged

But I guess some of you didn't read these bullet points in the initial thread, you focused on the title of the thread, because your feelings are hurt over mentioning the obvious.

    Gholston sucks!

I'm no troll or dark sider, but Gholston is terrible and I for one am glad Pace will be back next week...

Now please get off MY nuts while you're at it:up:

You made some great points. There's no way anyone who watches #50 can say he belongs on the field with our first team defense, maybe special teams LOL. He is an abomination and I guess some Jets fans just don't want to acknowledge how awful he really is.

I guess not Jets! But hey it is what it is. Some people want to think everything about the JETS is always rosy and pointing out the obvious is sacrilegiously.

I love the JETS, I want to think the best of them at all times, but when I see the OBVIOUS,

I'm going to address it and anyway, most of these guys probably never picked up a football in their lives, so what would they know.

Seriously, there were only like two plays he fucked up like that. I'm not blindly defending the guy - if he continues to do that he's done. You say he had 20 games to progress.. he's only started 4 and this was his worst game to date. DE-turned-LBs don't usually light it up on their 4th start. If you want to rip on someone, rip on Scott. He was easily a bigger liability today than Gholston.

Why? Because this isn't just about blind loyalty to a player even if it's to the detriment of the team. Even if we're locked into the guy financially, you need to put that aside and do what's best for the team.

This isn't HS or college. This is the pros. It's a business. Gholston was a horrible business decision. You cut your losses and move on. You don't just endlessly stick with a guy when it can fuck up your entire unit.

This shouldn't be about the "Vernon Gholston project". This should be about the Jets defense. I'll guarantee you that if Westerman or some other guy got the attention and amount of chances that Gholston got they would prove to be much more effective than him.

This stuff about we need to take baby steps with Gholston is pure BS, sorry to say. He either produces or he doesn't. It's that simple. And he is not. producing. And Gholston hasn't had any great games. He just didn't F' up as much as he did today.

I'm still trying to be supportive of the guy but as for today he was basically invisible. How long does the guy get to develop before we are allowed to expect something out of him?

Yeah, the D played well and the offense pretty much couldn't keep us in the game today, but you want to see at least some glimmer of improvement from such a high draft pick at this point. I wish the Ghost well but I have to agree with the doubters until the kid shows us something otherwise... anything!!

This is the last Gholston groupie I'm going to address then I'm done.

I did NOT say Gholston caused us the game, I did however acknowledge, that the plays where he should have been in there to defend against, he took himself out of the play and was burned for big runs.

Dude 1 tackle in 2 games? I may have been hard on him a couple of weeks ago, but I was one of the 1st guys to say to get off this kids back all last year and parts of this season, but I cannot make excuses for Gholston anymore he's terrible

The point of my thread which I believe you missed is HOW MANY PEOPLE THINK GHOLSTON IS STILL IMPROVING

I acknowledged SEVERAL aspects for the cause of the loss, but I guess you missed that.

So you don't think Ellis, Douglas, and B. Thomas didn't have duds of a game?

Because by your logic, "If ONE person is not where they are supposed to be and hitting their assignments as designed it WILL affect the entire defense."

Woulden't be that be contradicting what you said below

"I didn't blame any ONE person for the loss."

Your going to have to "Simplify for me" again.

After his injury riddled 1st year, Robert Meachem of NO had a very ordinary at best season in year 2 with NO but that didn't mean they were going to dispose of him because he coulden't get the message quickly enough despite being a former 1st rd pick. He however looked pretty good today and has been a weapon for the Saints this year.

Gholston had keys stops in the NE game as well as attacking Chris Johnson in the Titans game including a big play of the goal line stand as well as being apart of the 4th qtr pressure that was coming at Collins which made him throw 12 incompletions in a row.

    COMPLETE HORSESHIT.

The Saints had 12 third down conversion opportunities today. They threw 9 times and ran three times. They only converted on exactly ONE 3d running play where they ran over their left side on a 3/2 on their first possession. Their other conversions came on pass plays.

HOW DOES ONE THIRD DOWN CONVERSION ON THE GROUND = "quite a few"?

Actually it has nothing to do with Meachem or any other second year guy's progression compared to their lack of production in year 1.

It has solely to do with Gholston. You can normally tell at a reaction position like Rush end/OLB if a guy has it or not almost instantly. You can find a few plays where Gholston looked good this year. Yet overall for the majority of the 60 minute game, he has brought a lot less to the table than what he needs to be bringing. This shines through in lack of pressures, tackles and sacks. You see the way he moves, how stiff he is, his below average instincts, his lack of a swim or poor use of his hands in shedding blockers and it's really not that hard to see that he's never going to amount than anything more than a below average NFL player.

Dude you are the one that is misstating what actually happened in the game in order to make it seem like Gholston had a greater negative impact on this game than he actually did. You made a big deal about third down running play conversions.

The Saints converted on ONE FREAKING THIRD DOWN RUNNING PLAY AND THAT PLAY WAS IN THE FIRST QUARTER.
Nobody claims that Gholston had a good day today. But there were a helluva a lot of other guys on the Jets who had far worse days today than Vernon "Freaking" Gholston. Yet that is who the nutjobs all want to focus on.

VG has improved and he will continue to improve. He has played well this season but all anybody wants to do is trash the guy.

It does though because coming out of the draft, some guys will be bigger projects than others but its the potential factor that is what these guys are being drafted for. If they can step right up and contribute, all the better but there's going to be a chance always that guys will take a bit of time to get the memo. Brees was another example of a guy who didn't do much early in his career and it took a while for him to get the message(Including drafting his eventual replacement)

I don't think a guy needs to rack in a number of sacks in order to be considered "Doing his job or not" so much as if he can get pressure and cause double teams which helps out another player try and work the QB. And I have seen Gholston do that in 2-3 of the games. Not consistently, yes I agree but he isn't as much of a black hole as some people are making him out to be on this board.

I mean its just 4 games under a new defensive system and coach, defensive coaches have said he is improving and learning nicely as mentioned by Pettine. I will not say he's becoming a stud now this season after what he's shown but you don't think the "Bust" word is a bit premature for a 23 year old JN?
