The first 4 games this year looked brutal to many fans and analysts. A rookie coach, quarterback, new players on the defense, Ellis gone a game, Pace gone 4 games. It did not look good. And with this schedule: @ Houston vs. New England vs. Tennessee @ New Orleans it did not look like the Jets could start out too well. Instead, the team comes out of the gate (3-1) and only lost in New Orleans because of bad playcalling/QB play. The next 4 games look like this: @ Miami vs. Buffalo @ Oakland vs. Miami That is a very winnable 4 games and most likely the Jets will be favored in all 4. I see many negative threads from fans who don't understand football and that is fine, but the Jets are looking good and are in a great position right now. Sanchez has made many mistakes and the team has still gone (3-1). He has a lot of potential and will improve after each game. The future looks bright for the Jets right now!
amen brotha some fans were expecting the Jets to go 16-0 and have to realize that is extremely rare. Jets will be 13-3
Yup. After Sanchez was named starter and before we played Houston, I don't know anyone who wouldn't have been extremely happy with 3-1 to start the season. There are a few things in those games I haven't liked, but the record is what it is, and we've got a nice long week to regroup, get healthy, and get ready for the next 4 games that will take us to the bye.
OK well all power to you if you believe that. I would be ecstatic if we only lose 2 more times. Division games are harder than you think.
I wouldn't be so quick to chalk all those games up as wins. The Jets played their worst last year against some of the teams that were supposed to be cakewalk.
I agree with the general idea, but I wouldn't say Sanchez improved from the Tenn game to this week like you said that it's a forgone conclusion that he'll improve each week. He will undoubtedly gain more experience though, and the seemingly easier 4 games coming up could catapault us into good standing for a second half of the season that has a handful of tough games sprinkled in with the Bills, Raiders, Panthers, and Bucs games. Jacksonville could be an interesting game if they continue to improve on offense. The defense with Pace coming back should continue to be dominating, I think Jenkins needs to practice about once a week so his back will hold up for the long haul. But we should be able to stay in the games we aren't favored and will win the games we are supposed to as the rook takes his lumps. Double digit wins should happen. We've already won 3 games we weren't supposed to. I'm still excited.
absolutely agreed. i think this is also going to be a good chance for the jets to realize that they are built to run the football and need to restore the focus on that. lets get this thing going...i honestly expect the jets to win all 4 games
I thought the same thing. Anyways, there were people before saying that it would be a successful first 5 games if we went 2-3. 3-1 is better than anyone expected at the beginning of the season. If we go 3-1 for the rest of the season we'll be 12-4, which is entirely possible considering the first quarter of our season looks to be the toughest part of the schedule.
agreed, we have played well, and will continue to grow.... I though we fared well against a tough saints team today......
Agreed. Losing games because of Sanchez is going to happen. He is a rookie QB. This defense looks great and I have confidence that the running game and O-Line will get going as well.
Good thread. If you were to tell me before the season the Jets would be 3-1 after week four with there only loss being @NO and Sanchez had won 3 rookie of the week awards I would have signed up for it instantly. It sucks to lose, but we're really in great shape right now.
Getting Pace back will be amazing. I am not going to even try to imagine him in this defense because my head might explode. I will just wait for Monday night. Sanchez himself, has weathered the storm as well. The Texans game was his first start and on the road, then vs. tough New England and Tennessee defenses, followed up with a hostile enviroment in the Superdome today, he has been through a lot in his first 4 games. Now he gets his first regular season MNF game.
Good thread man. It always sucks when you have to suck up a loss, but the team is still in a very good position right now. We could have another little winning streak before we hit the bye. Nothing about this situation warrants a "sky is falling" attitude.
great thread! we have exceeded all expectation. now that the sanchez bubble has been popped, maybe the coaches will go back to what we do best, where the most of our talent is...RUN!
I'll sign up for this anytime. The kid played like a rookie. Now we see how he responds. Anyone can follow up after a touchdown with confidence. Let's see how he handles this. Love the Shonn Green sighting. I thought that TJ was stuck on Fast Forward for a moment. Nice running for the other rookie.
