I haven't liked this since week 1. Why is Brad Smith getting so much time. He just can't catch the football. He's great at trick plays and ST but he's not a WR....clowney should be getting a ton more looks then he is, and I'd be frustrated if I were him too.

I think Brad Smith has his strengths but catching the football just isn't one of them.

Get Clowney some more time!!! Why can't this guy catch some playing time?!

If we only bring Smith in on trick plays, they'll know that it's going to be a trick play...

But I agree that he is being used as a receiver too often. He is a good runner, but doesn't have the best hands.

I thought the same thing. Smith is not a threat to anybody. I don't think I've ever seen him a make a significant play. Having said that, it's obvious that Clowney is DEEP in Rex and Schotty's doghouse. His little Twitter episode did not help him. He needs to stop whining and focus on what he needs to do to get back on the field.

By the way, where's Stuckey been..? He's like a Ralph Ellison novel. A sort of invisible man.

i don't blame clowney...he has proven he at least deserves a look in the regular season and once again doesn't get it...clowney has a legit complaint...brad smith a converted QB is getting more time then he is and its honestly baffling

You all hate Mangini, but he did the exact same thing last year. Maybe the player just isn't as good as we hoped he was. Still, you would like to see him get a chance...

because clowney is just as bad. we have two legit recievers stuckey and cotchery that is it. Clowney just cant run streaks all day which is what hes only good at. plus his hands are just as bad. I trust the coaching staff clowney is obviously not showing enough in practice to play on sundays.

I agree with you. Atleast give Clowney a shot. Even if he's only a track star. Let the guy go in and stretch the field. Right now, we have nothing but possession receivers, and that hurts big time.

Pretty much. Plus, it's worth pointing out that Smith is a very good blocker so it's nice to have him on the field (when there's no realistic chance that the ball will be thrown to him.)

As for Clowney, doesn't the fact that through 4 games the Jets haven't incorporated him into a single significant play suggest anything to fans on this site? He's just not that good. If he was good, the Jets would be playing him. This is Brett Ratliff all over again--fans believing that they know more about a player than the coaching staff does.

The Brad Smith plays have worked out pretty well for the most.

Brad Smith is a great athlete. If he could just catch the ball consistently he'd be a damn good receiver. He's getting better, but not fast enough.

so sad.... but yet 100% true...

Clowney obviously is doing something to prove he doesnt deserve pt, because brad smith clearly has done enough to prove he can't do it, so nobody has stepped up to this point apparently.

I Like him running with the ball but as a straight up receiver i dont like it. I rather give clowney the chance lol.

The simple answer to the original question is that Chansi Stuckey really isn't a particularly good receiver. He has his strengths but he also disappears in tight coverage and doesn't always come doen with the balls you need him to.

We all know the Jets have one solid receiver right now and a bunch of spare parts. Brad Smith is getting playing time because his deficiencies are no greater than Stuckeys. He's a much better blocker than Stuckey as an example, and he gives the Jets options when he's on the field that they don't have with Stuckey.

Really if you take away the screen left, which teams are now wise to and the 30 yard TD strike when the defense didn't cover him Stuckey has done nothing worth being on the field for this year.

Smith may be fast but he's not very shifty. Whenever he does catch the ball he gets clobbered.

The Jets really need help at WR... I wonder if there's anyone who could come off the street and provide an upgrade?
